He scored the winner in the Tyne wear derby, so he's probably got a statue on the way up there. If they pay that amount for an average player like that, then their scouting network must be non-existent. Still, you've had a result out of it
We struggled at LB even when we had Riise. Great though he was going forward, he was very often AWOL at the back. *** As for the "just go out and buy him" argument, shame real life is a bit more complicated.
So lfc signings this summer.... Lambert... Meh, football is about trophies not making dreams come true. Yeah it's cheap but it's like toure this is fine and all that but how many started out lauding toure early then finding he was shaky and out of form due to being rusty.... Maybe the same would happen? Lallana. Gross overpay by at least 40% I hear people's views on his merits but feel there's better out there Can- you have to have some hope here that at minimum we'll make a profit on him but potentially he could be very good Markovic - danilo says he's very very good. Hacks are saying similar. We will see but again at age even if it's not stellar I see a good profit again So at best I think we have added 30 mil of good talent to improve us and lallana has to really make an impact in midfield to improve us
so is that another £14 mill to add to the funds before we have used Luis money? so in effect this £14 mill will either be getting a free player or to add to luis fund to hopefully get 1-2 quality players. we still have maybes off as well, ass apsas, coates, lucas, reina etc.
Got a loan fee though off asshead It is additional funds but not a free player, we had to put up with borini on the wing with Suarez in the early part of lfc and Rodgers initial year and that disaster led to 7th He then f'd off on loan which I hope brought in a fee and paid his wages but again that left us short I'm glad we've shifted him on but there's no free ride and bad decisions have consequences just like the great decision with Suarez last year had positive out cone For me the key decision this year is to come as so far we have not spent the Suarez money and I feel Remy and bony are disastrous decisions, if Monaco can throw 40 mil at a James there must be a real top talent out there to toss the wad at rather than penny pinch on average enough players
Do like Isco, got the potential to be as good as David Silva, who IMHO is the best number 10 in the PL... Would be a great signing..
Agree, he was superb at Malaga. but he's been in and out at RM, with Kroos there now, he's likely to get even less time.. Maybe a manager like Rodgers could get him back playing like he did at Malaga... he could very well also goto City, having worked under Peligrini before..
I'm also not sure where he would fit in with us or most teams for that matter of the top 4 in england.
Is everyone more pleased with Remy than Bony? I dont know much on ether bar Bony is the stronger one Also im pleased Borini is going, I never had confidence he was going to core or make that much difference, I just dont think he's good enough to push us on
Every day I seem to just become more disappointed in our signings; either average premiership players or youngsters who'll need time to bed in. We've just received ~90mill in transfer fees (well, we will receive that much eventually) and our targets just seem so average. Lambert I was ok with. Cheap, backup, passion and tbh a fair bit of skill too despite his age. I was happy to see him come in and rotate in the squad. Then came the Bony and Remy links. Both had alright PL seasons, nothing more. They'll add to squad depth but again at the expense of the first XI. LB links seem to be getting worse by the day, thank **** we missed out on Davies. Can and Markovic look promising but I'd be amazed if they hit the ground running and had a major impact for us this season. Maybe next year. Only one I'm happy with is Lallana! I think he and Hendo will be a great CM pairing and is a definite upgrade on Allen and current form Lucas. Overpaid, perhaps so, but I still think he'll be worth it in time, just like Hendo has proved to be worth his price. So other than Lallana, where's the quality? We'll be linked with Ashley Williams again soon and sell Agger, then to round off the window it'll be Lucas sold and Huddlestone brought in. Someone give me some reasons to be optimistic please
