Loic Remy is on the verge of signing for Liverpool after agreeing personal terms with the club. Remy's advisors told spurs the player had no interest in joining them as he wanted to play Champions League this coming season. Remy has an 8.5m buyout clause for teams in the top four (but liverpool feel they may get him cheaper)which led to Newcastle and West ham withdrawing their interest as they would have had to pay double. 1. Is this ayre ****ing about again trying to get a player on the cheap again when he already is cheap 2. Remy is an upgrade on Borrini no doubt but its still 1 in 1 out. Last season we were all told our squad is too small etc. But with all the signings so far they have replaced others not bringing up the numbers. OUT : Moses, Aspas, Suarez, Luis Alberto, Assaidi*, Borrini* IN : Lambert, Lallana, Can, Markovic, Remy* *set to go through in the next week. Going by the above weve an even smaller squad now.
Other than Suarez the replacements are better and with the news that we are still looking to strengthen we should be good to go. I'd still like Lovren in and if there is a big marquee signing available then great. I'm not a huge fan of Remy but lets see if he can step up.
A fair few youth will be promoted to make up numbers for the cup games, granted, but I agree that our first team looks a bit light and inexperienced too now.
True, but it is better. The squad is small but looking decent, last year it was small and, fist XI aside, absolute dog ****.
"Going by the above weve an even smaller squad now." true, but now the squad isnt as ****e, and also we still have money to spend on quality hopefully. ie quality player come in and person they replace makes our bench even better. no more Aspas,Moses types hopefully sat on our bench
Alberto and Aspas are only out on loan. Alberto to get experience and Aspas to (hopefully) drive up his price before selling him on, at a guess. I'd say we still need a LB and another striker for this season -- i.e. not including Origi, if that deal goes through. I'd also like a Mascherano terrier-type, too. Although perhaps wor-Jackie can do that job.
Doubt it. The wages we've been paying players has been crazy. Milan won't sign Taarabt because they can't afford his wages and Arsenal couldn't match Remy's QPR wage. Our third choice keeper's on £100k FFS!
Remy has an £8.5m release clause in his contract that only applies to sides who've qualified for the CL. Anyone else will have to pay £15m. Good player, proven in the PL with a good goal return, yet more pace to your squad as well. It appears that Rodgers is going to stick to the 'chuck it over the top for the quick lads to chase' tact as opposed to his 180 page tiki taka dossier.....
I didnt structure that properly ... allegedly QPR want 16m from any club outside the top 4. His buyout for top 4 teams is 8.5m but Ayre in his infinite wisdom thinks he can get him cheaper than the buyout. The hold up is Liverpool met the buyout and were able to agree personal terms and then went back with a lower bid when the terms were agreed.
The difference is, hopefully we will not be face palming and rolling our eyes when a substitution is made. How many times did we yell at the telly "Ah ****, not Moses, what are you on Rodgers?!?!?"
If you basically swap Borini for Remy with £5.5m change, then you've improved your squad for zip. He's on massive wages though
Good signing if true. We've basically replaced Borini with Remy, who in my opinion is the superior player. I know that's probably not saying much, but Remy has European experience, coming to his prime, decent finisher and plenty of pace (which will be our biggest weapon this coming season ). Our front line is taking on a very different look, and like Hash says.. Lambert and Remy to come on opposed to Moses and Aspas.
