£8 million was the reported agreed figure next year. Decent deal if it goes ahead.

Swansea City are being made to wait for new faces, says Huw Jenkins

By South Wales Evening Post | Posted: July 18, 2014

'HUW Jenkins admits Swansea City are being made to wait for potential transfer targets because of a post-World Cup hangover in the transfer market.

Swansea's summer of rebuilding work is set to continue with the signing of winger Jefferson Montero.

The Ecuador winger is in Wales undergoing a medical ahead of a £4 million move from Mexican side Monarcas Morelia.

But Swansea are in the hunt for further new recruits as Garry Monk continues his overhaul of the squad left behind Michael Laudrup.

"Garry would like to get a couple more players in and there are a couple more things we are trying to finalise," Jenkins told the Evening Post.

"Things have not proved easy in the last couple of weeks.

"A lot of that is to do with the World Cup. Players are coming back late and clubs are coming back late.

"They are all waiting for developments themselves before they will do any business.

"It's been a hard spell for us but we will keep on working hard to get things right."

Swansea have already culled a number of players from the squad which finished last season.

Loanees Alvaro Vazquez and Roland Lamah returned to their parent clubs while Leroy Lita and David Ngog were released.

Pablo Hernandez is on his way to a new club, while there are doubts over the futures of Ben Davies, Michel Vorm, Ki Suing-Yueng and Wilfried Bony.

Jose Canas and Alejandro Pozuelo, meantime, have been told they are not in Monk's plans.

Swansea are already likely to be in the market for a central midfielder — they are still hoping Jonathan de Guzman will return to Wales — a player capable of filling the No. 10 role — Spurs' Gylfi Sigurdsson is a target, though is also being pursued by Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis — and another forward player.

But it could be that further additions are required if there are more departures.'

How are your feelings about Gylfi, following the fact that he snubbed Swansea after his loan spell?

Would love to have him back again as a replacement for Michu - but seems like he wants to stay in London (Crystal Palace interested and look likely to get him).

Wasn't it Gylfi's missus who was pulling the strings and saying she didn't want to be in Swansea?

The deal for Gylfi was almost done till that prick at Liverpool intervened and derailed it. He didn't snub us, he had an opportunity to go to Spurs as they offered him more than Liverpool and everyone on this board would have done the same.

Being reported that Liverpool are selling Fabio Borini to Sunderland for £14m.

What should Wilfried Bony's price be then?

    There's a story out there claiming that we will;
    - Sell Ben Davies to Spurs for £8-10m,
    - Buy Siggy off them for the same value as the Davies transfer (with Spurs subsidizing Siggy's wages),
    - Purchase Kyle Naughton off Spurs on the cheap (25 year old right-back....if this were to happen I reckon we would see Tiendalli become the cover for Taylor at left-back and Kingsley given time in the development squad before a loan)

Question is, how many of us would be happy with such an outcome?
    and
If we constructed a similar deal with the Scousers which Liverpool players would you take as makeweights?
Would you prefer a Spurs or a Liverpool deal?

Bony won't be sold in this transfer window. If he goes on scoring, he'll sign a big contract with Swansea during this season. with an acceptable release clause (he was bought for £ 10 m?) About £15-17 mill and be gone next summer.

Fee agreed rather than signed I believe...

Swansea City stay confident on Gylfi Sigurdsson deal

By South Wales Evening Post | Posted: July 19, 2014

"SWANSEA remain upbeat about their chances of landing Gylfi Sigurdsson, as interest in the Icelander starts to build.

It had been suggested that Crystal Palace had moved to the front of the queue for the Tottenham midfielder, with reports that the two clubs had agreed a fee in the region of £8 million.

But Swansea boss Garry Monk is keen to bring Sigurdsson back to the Liberty Stadium this summer — and he remains optimistic despite Palace's interest.

Sigurdsson made a big impression during his first stint in Swansea, scoring seven goals in 18 Premier League appearances in 2011-12.

Swansea were close to bringing him back to South Wales on a permanent basis two years ago, but Brendan Rodgers's departure to Liverpool, coupled with a bumper offer from Tottenham, saw the former Hoffenheim man head for White Hart Lane.

Monk may be keen to get the deal done sooner rather than later, with Michu having moved to Napoli on loan and Pablo Hernandez ready to complete his switch to Al Arabi.

Swansea have spoken to Spurs about Sigurdsson, with a swap deal suggested after the London club made a bid of around £10 million for left-back Ben Davies.

Meanwhile, Swansea hope to finalise the deal to bring Ecuador World Cup star Jefferson Montero to the Liberty over the weekend."

Martin Kelly I like, but...has he proved he can stay fit yet? How much first team footie has he been involved with over the last 2/3 seasons?

Some people think this forum should only be about facts but it exists for rumour , speculation and opinion as well, all 4 elements are important. Back to Terror's post. If Sunderland have agreed a £14 million fee with Liverpool fpr Borini then Ben is worth more than the £8 million being quoted in the press. My own view is that I would rather have JDG back than Gylfi. We do need right back strengthening so would find £10 million plus Kyle Naughton acceptable
