I think you'll find Snodgrass's natural position where he's played most of his career is right midfield, as in the wide midfielder in a 4-4-2. Not that much different to a wing back and he's certainly got the stamina to get up & down the wing to attack & defend. Would you have said the same about Brady before Bruce played him in the left wing-back role, when you would have only considered him to be a winger/striker?

I agree with you on that. Bruce does seem to be playing it safe regarding transfer targets.. He said himself in an interview we're bringing in these sorts of players because he knows what he's getting.. Cant blame him for being safe but it would be nice to bring in some exciting talent from abroad.
Perhaps after his lessons at Sunderland, NP proved to be the final straw for him when it comes to taking chances on foreign players!

He came from their academy, he's not going to pass up the opportunity to become a professional footballer because the team offering him a contract might refuse to sell him in the future. If someone offered me a professional contract at Sheffield United I know I'd take it.
