Maguire and Robertson both have potential, they don't need to adapt because we want them for their current position. I'd rather we got these two than a proven defender who will turn 31 in November. Sorry for the disruption Chazz, DMD will move my posts to another thread soon.
Van Rental is going to have some wedge to spend and I think CM is one area he'll be looking to bolster. Could mean that Fletcher becomes available.
If our targets in the media are correct one would think that Bruce feels the same way. He doesnt seem to be going after anyone of Dawsons caliber right now. Not that it is impossible that he have made approaches and it hasnt been leaked but that seems like the abnormal thing now days. I like us going for potential, has a nice forward look to it as opposed to buying people looking for their last big contract.
Maguire and Robertson won't be bartering for massive wages as well, they are hungry for success and I think they would do well here.

I agree. Its also smart to point out that with the possibility of a bunch of extra games this year that it isnt like Maguire and Robertson would just be sitting on the pine even if they dont start in our PL games. They will get a decent number of games under their belt which should help their development.
We'll be kicking ourselves if we miss out on these two and they turn out to be great in the future, I can't say the same for Dawson.
What about someone like Darron Gibson. Looked a decent prospect at one time but fallen off the radar at Everton recently. It's the Gibsons / Rodwells (wages permitting) type of player we should look for - had a knockback and wants to get career back on track
Gibson is/was a real talent but he's just back after a long term knee injury which required surgery. He hasn't played for about 9 months I think? If he's back and fit though he's a good shout.
