I like Borini but I'm convinced he is a confidence player that needs to be player every week for us to see the best of him. Therefore, I'll be happy with receiving £14m for him, it's a good return IMO
We only paid £10mill for Borini? For some reason I thought it had been just shy of £20m... I feel a little better about the clubs transfer dealings in that regards if it were only £10m. Borini always worked hard... but my theory regarding forwards is that 9/10- if they have a bad first season, they will never adapt to your club. It's very rare forwards require a long time to get rolling at a new club. Midfielders and defenders take time- but usually if a forwards is going to do well at a club, he does pretty quickly.
He was unlucky with the injury plagued first season with us and was impressive for Sunderland last season. Decent striker but wasn't meant to be at LFC. Good we've made a few mill. aswell. Good luck Fabio
Tony Barrett @TonyBarretTimes Sunderland have agreed a fee with Liverpool for Fabio Borini. The deal will be worth up to £14m if Borini can agree personal terms. We're shipping out all the strikers!
That's a good deal I think. Wasn't going to break into first team and we made a profit. Goodluck to him (except against us!)
Suarez, Aspas, Borini out Lambert in... sounds like we WILL get one more striker- unless this is like the time we sent Carroll out the door.
I like Fabio and really wanted him to come back and get some games this season, although I know he had a lot of doubters. Didn't want to sell him, but I don't think you could argue with potentially making a profit on him and then reinvesting that in someone else.
James Pearce also saying we're planning on triggering Remy's release clause as he's seen as better value than Bony. Some press reporting that we want him to lower his wage demands of around 80-90k (which if true confirms that he is a greedy bastard).
I'm not sure I see Remy as better than Borini if we are going to s'gn him to shadow Sturridge. What do you all think?
Despite my arguing last night, I'd be happy with Remy TBH. Decent player that is versatile across the front three and good competition for Studge too.
Going to have a high turnover of players at this rate. Could be dangerous, take Spuds last year. Ibe should be considered to be taking Borini's place in the squad (or Aspas or Moses). Time for him to be given the prolonged first team chance.
So Sturridge, Lambert and assuming Remy, I see that as Lambert and Remy as back up strikers? So hopefully a big name coming for another striker, especially with more money from Borini.
I don't believe we should ever count youngsters as taking over from someone. Too much pressure on the young lads can destroy them. I say let them develop and if they're good enough they will force their way in regardless. Also, Ibe isn't a striker like Borini
Still no new defenders though. Makes me think back to Rodgers in January "We have a lot of defenders already" is what he said then when asked by press if he'd be bringing in any defenders. Surely he would agree we need at least a full back. Also... I liked Bony's hair! Do you think Remy could grow his hair like that?
