I'd take Baines, Coleman, Arteta and Cahill and maybe Rodwell but wouldn't be too arsed about the rest.

  3. No, but we have the funds to push higher than them.

At the moment Everton, but the gap is closing between us and them.

  5. It's all about consistency now. Everton have a good style of player and are consistent,

    Basically, this.
If we can continue bringing in good signings and hold onto our key players as well as being consistent - something we desperately lacked last season - we should be a better team.

edit: haha I didn't even see you wrote the above post Tash :) great minds

Everton aren't consistent. They have had ****e starts to the season twice in a row now and have to make up for the loss the next half.

  8. Well no one last season was really consistent, but Everton didn't necessarily have more quality players than everyone below them, they just have a good style of play, and were MORE consistent then the mid table teams, is that fair enough?

They are therefore consistent in that they start the season badly and finish strongly.

Really..didn't they beat Man Utd then lose 3-0 at home to West Brom? That applies to you to Tash however I do understand what you mean.

From Everton I'll take the following(these are also the players who could IMO get into our first XI) :

Arteta. He'll fit right in with our ''Spanish click'' and our new style of ''play'' will suit him perfectly. Brilliant technical ability, he's kind of a like a poor mans' Xavi if I'm honest(that is something good by the way). Him and Cabaye pulling the strings would be amazing! Can play LW/RW aswell I think. He's getting near 30 so wouldn't suit our ''transfer policy''.

Baines. Him and Enrique are about on par in terms of quality. Baines' crossing ability is better than Enrique mind that MOTM Jose put in against Blackburn showed he can cross quite well but I'm not sure he's as good as Baines in that department, but in nearly every other single department there even IMO, except Jose is taller & you could say he's stronger.

Rodwell. Home-grown and the potential is obviously there, hopefully this season will be his breakthrough.

Saha. Fully fit & on form he's better than any of our strikers, probably even better Ba. He's a good solid all-rounder I'll say despite his age, he's got good pace, his finishing is still quality and he's got good agility and movement.

Jags. Better than Saylor IMO. Solid & consistent. His partnership with Distin is probably one of the best in the league IMO.

Fellaini. Class act on his day. Very good CM in general IMO, good age & he's always a threat from set-pieces! 6ft 4' beast of a midfielder. Cahill & him must be every one's nightmares from set-pieces! <yikes>

The rest are good but they probably wouldn't get into our team. Cahill would always be useful of the bench to nick a goal in the last minutes or so of a game, Coleman is a solid RB/RM although unspectacular but has good potential, Beckford is probably better than Best but not Ba but he'll be good as a impact sub, Osman could be a handy squad player because of his versatility & Billy(that's how the Everton fans call him) is a cracking LW/LM on his day.

Coleman reminds me a of a gypsy, therefore he can stay away. Unless we sign Ireland, then he'll have company.

I really don't rate Beckford and I would say Jose is marginally better than Baines. I think Arteta, Coleman, Jagielka and Saha would get into our line-up quote comfortably. Wouldn't be too fussed about any of the others.

Why's everyone seem to want to take Baines when we've got Jose? Unless he played infront of Jose in left mid, mmmmm.

Well it's more like if JOSE went then I'll obviously go for Baines who is about on par with Enrique IMO. Give or take.. Enrique edges it though! :D

Agreed! I think Baines gets better national press because of his assists and obviously because he's english, but Jose is a much better defender, if you mark the two on defending, pace, strength, dribbling etc. I think Jose would take it all except on quality of delivery.
