Gustavo Poyet called me when he was in Montevideo and asked me about Leandro RodrÃguez, he told me 'I need a player of his kind for Sunderland'. However, the club's foreign quota does not allow you to take now so surely done in December, although there are other options for the player. We believe you will stay with us until December and then go to England. The 21-year-old striker has only made 50 appearances for River Plate, scoring 10 goals but with Sunderland releasing a number of players from the development squad over the summer, leaving Mikael Mandron as the only recognised striker in the u21's, and Connor Wickham's future up in the air while the club try to persuade him to sign a new contract, as well as the imminent departures of Danny Graham and Ignacio Scocco, the first team striker pool may also soon be depleted. You can take a look at the player in action below, with the obligatory YouTube compilation;
Sky Sports understands Osasuna midfielder Raoul Cedric Loe is hoping to sort out his future amid interest from a number of Premier League clubs. Osasuna are ready to listen to offers for Loe following their relegation from the Primera Liga and the Cameroon international is thought to be available for a fee of £1.5million. The 25-year-old has just a year to run on his contract and Osasuna would prefer to sell him this summer rather than risk seeing Loe run down his deal. Loe has been on the radar of several Premier League sides for some time and he came close to a move to West Ham during the January transfer window. The 6ft 4in defensive midfielder, who has been likened to Patrick Vieira, has all the attributes to make him ideally suited for the physical nature of the Premier League. The likes of Queens Park Rangers, West Brom, Sunderland and Burnley are all thought to be keeping tabs on Loe as they weigh up potential summer signings, while Scottish champions Celtic are also thought to be admirers of the midfielder. Loe's UK representative, Abdul Bihi, has confirmed several clubs have expressed an interest in Loe and that they hope to resolve his future before the transfer window shuts. "There are several clubs from the UK who are interested in Raoul and we are hoping to sort something out within the next few weeks," Bihi told Sky Sports. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...o-resolve-future-amid-premier-league-interest

Just got it of SIDS stye EXCLUSIVE TMW - Fiorentina from Sunderland 2 million more Diakitè Alonso 07/17/2014 19:15 by Peter Lazzerini article read 61 times As learned from Tuttomercatoweb.comcontinues the pressure of Sunderlandfor Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso .The player has spent the last six months of last season in the Black Cats, showing perfect features for the game Poyet. AT this time the player is located in Moena together to Fiorentina but negotiations are continuing between purple and Sunderland for its possible sale. The latest offering of the English club has more than 2 million euro Modibo Diakite , an attractive offer considering that the same Montella would ask for confirmation of the French defender. The Spaniard has asked the company guarantees the lily on its possible use, guarantees that at this time can not be given by the staff of Montella. If the coach does not intervene to keep him in Florence, the player will take the path of the Premier returning to play for the colors of Sunderland.
Maybe problems with Alonso transfer http://www.insidefutbol.com/2014/07/18/sunderland-talks-on-marcos-alonso-deal-stall/150694/
Tell Fiorentina to go away in jerky movements. They allegedly want Diakite we allegedly want Alonso. Offer what we think he's worth or walk away. Do not be held to ransom.
Yes I agree but do we have a plan B - in previous windows when this has gone on we have ended up with people like dosena
I disagree fella. This deal could move on a player we don't want and fill a position that needs filling. Walk away and we need a new player and new buyer. for the sake of a million here and there it's close enough to an agreement to work something out. After all, statistically he was a better fullback than Luke Shaw and he has just gone for silly money. I think this will definitely happen, just two teams trying to drive a hard bargain which quite rightly they're entitled to. We'd never get anybody signed if we withdrew from negotiations too hastily.
Read today somewhere that diakete + cash for alonso is on like, i'll trawl out the link in a bit, been busy as fook all day
Suppose so, can i **** find that link, it basically said 'agreement reached' i'll have another look in a bit, need a beer and to get chilled
Not this again I'd still have him though. SUNDERLAND and QPR have both been linked with former Everton midfielder Tim Cahill. But the Gazette understands that Sunderland are unlikely to make a move for the Australian, who scored one of the stand-out goals of the World Cup against Holland. The Press Association today reported that Sunderland, QPR, plus several other clubs in Europe, were interested in bringing Cahill back to the Premier League after the midfielder has spent the past two years in Major League Soccer for New York Red Bulls. Sunderland were keen on signing Cahill on loan in January 2013 as a stop-gap measure, only for the move to fall through. But Cahill, who turns 35 in December, is not expected to be in Sunderland’s sights this summer, despite the Black Cats’ search for players with previous Premier League experience.

Sunderland have tried to break the deadlock between themselves and Fiorentina by improving their offer for left-back Marcos Alonso. Black Cats boss Gus Poyet is keen to sign Alonso on a permanent basis after he impressed at the Stadium of Light last season. However, reaching an agreement with Fiorentina has proven tricky and, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Sunderland have launched another push to secure the Spaniard. The Premier League side are offering €2.5m plus former Lazio defender Modibo Diakite in order to snap up Alonso.
I want Alonso here as much as the next man TFP but surely we have looked at other prospects? I think it will happen but how long do you wait. We f*cked Stoke up with the Catts deal last transfer window. We cannot afford to be in a position where we don't have a left back. AGAIN.
