Thats how i understood it. I cant actually verify what time it was taken but it was used to show flights avoiding the Ukraine during the war.

If that's the case, I stand corrected then.

You do have to wonder why all airlines would not avoid a warzone, just to be on the safe side. I can only imagine desperation not to incur extra fuel costs has cost people their lives.

Who knows. The russian government keeps its hand pretty close to its chest, so they could top of the line or held together with masking tape.

I doubt any major political ramifications will come from this. Most likely the pro Moscow rebels will get the blame (whether true or not,) some rebel squad and officer will get done by firing squad and everyone leaves it at that politically.

I remember watching a programme about Russian missile silos. The presenter went to one that wasn't even guarded and was rusty as hell. They went to the control room and it looked like some 1960's through back with huge buttons etc. The door to the missle was rusted shut and the missle itself had bits falling off it.

With what they want the world to see. Televised military parades prove absolutely nothing as they can edit and change what they want you to see. For example in 1941 Rommel had his troops circle continuously for a parade to show off his might. It worked as the allies thought he had 5x the number of men and tanks that he actually had available.

You only really need one that works for all hell to kick off. I had exactly the same feelings, but the general feeling about Putin amongst intelligence circles is that this is not a man to be taken lightly, or associate with the usual human emotions such as empathy etc.

No, nor can I at all. But I also don't think his ego should be underestimated.

He's like Kim Jong-Un with some of the PR stuff he does. Riding bears and ****. He's deluded if he thinks people will eat that **** up and not just see him as a posturing nutjob. This sort of posturing displays weakness and desperation, not strength.

Not in his mind, that's my point. He (and a lot of Russians actually) do actually believe this kind of stuff.

Well they can go on believing it. Obviously we have to be cautious with him, because we don't know when he might do something stupid, but at least we can be pretty sure he'll lose if he is stupid enough to start a war in Europe.

Out of 6 Aussies on MH370 and 28 on MH17, what were the chances that four would be from the same family across two separate aircraft incidents within six months of each? There must be next to no chance of that happening....so unfortunate for them.

Just to stick with the theme of devastating news, Israel has mistaken four kids playing football for militia and bombed them.
