Strange that no one seems to have seen anything of him lately.

Surely he should be in training or maybe we are negotiating with Stoke to swap him back again for Odemwingie. Perhaps it's an on-going trade off like swapping football cards in a playground. I'm surprised City fans are not up in arms about a player earning close on 40 grand a week and never showing up, even during last seasons games. <laugh> Maybe the person/persons agreeing to this lucrative deal should be harangued by supporters for their poor judgement. I mean, it's not as if it hasn't happened before.

as soon as we signed him, i was 'up in arms' about giving him an 18 month deal. i said at the time we should have given a stop gap a maximum of 6 months, then reassess what to do once we knew what division we'd be in. most people on here said he'd offer something different, i agreed he had height, but i foresaw getting relegated and being stuck with this useless lump……..

he has since unfortunately proven me right, he completely lacked any sense of urgency, we were in a relegation battle and he was on the beach as soon as he got here. i doubt anyone at the club would be thick enough to give him £40k a week, but if they did, that goes down as one of the most incompetent bits of business done at the club in the past 10 or so years, right up with rejecting £6m for ledley and £4.8m for ramsey……..<ok>

Odemwingie's strengths were never utilised through Mackay's team selection policy. Playing him up front on his own instead of Campbell was farcical, and when he was included in a more secondary role, he often turned himself inside out trying to find an outlet from a pedestrian midfield combo more intent upon going backwards than forward.

(I suspect you expected that Bob.........<laugh>)

I was actually glad to see Odem go as he was like a fish out of water at the club, but swapping him for Kenwyne Jones must have brought fits of hysterical laughter from Hughes. Jones has the both the physical presence and the manoeuverabilty of an oil tanker. The reported "straight swap" turned out to be a huge mistake by Solskjaer and whoever else had an input.

Still say if we'd had pushed the boat out (only slightly) and just bought Le Fondre in January as we were trying to do rather than a swap deal for Jones, we could well have survived. I'd have backed Le Fondre to score more than the single goal that Jones got in those 4 months - and that might have been enough.

Have to disagree with you there Sparks. Yes he has the manoeuvrability of an oil tanker but he has about as much physical presence as Bambi with two broken legs.
The man epitomises all that is wrong with football. Draws a massive wage and puts in absolutely no effort at all.

Well Kenwyne is still listed as a City player on the official website (where is he?), but then again so are Andy Taylor, Tommy Smith, Cowie, Zaha and Bellamy - about time some pruning was done on there as well as in the dressing room.

In a similar vein, I posted a thread a short while back about our "missing No 30" - Maxi Amondarain. Still heard nothing about the young Uruguyan who seems to have vanished off the face of the Earth. He was given the number 30 shirt last season and was supposed to be an excellent prospect (one for the future <laugh>).

Anyone heard anything at all why he now doesn't feature in the senior team list where he was last year, nor even in the current development squad list? Very strange.

Did he ever exist Sparks.....?

Maybe they just invented him and were paying the wages and transfer fee straight into Moody's and Malky's bank account <laugh>

I'm sure KWJ will be in our squad next season, no one will pay his wages. Thing is he does have talent, he can score goals and be a real handful. If he doesn't do something this season he can forget ever earning top wages again. Maybe the desire to blag another contract could see Kenwyn actually put a bit of effort in this season.

Fck me!! I knew there was something more behind the scenes than just the Corny fiasco - perhaps Moody sent a text with the details to Tan by mistake....<laugh><laugh>

I think Kenwyne would have something to offer at Championship level, but there are a couple of questions about his (so far) non appearance.

1. How much do his wages drop as a result of our relegation?

2. Other than sticking a Titan 7 rocket up his arse, how can we get him to move any faster than Whitts with a limp?..........<laugh>

if the likes of tony pulis and roy keane couldn't get him to put in a shift over a sustained period of time OGS has no chance, but he knew that before he signed him, so you can't have much sympathy, especially when we traded a very capable footballer in odemwingie for him. to answer your other question sparky, i hope the answer is that his wages will be 'alot'.

I know no one will motivate him Swamp, but he's finished after this season. It's the selfish, laziness of the player that could work out for us.

I remember the NG Dragons (wrong sport but the points valid) having a New Zealand number 8, they signed him from Ulster on a 2.5 year contract. He did nothing for 2 years, then came back like a man possessed when he realised he was at the bottom of the pile and about to fade into obscurity. 'Earned' himself a new contract at another club and off he went.

The only problem with my theory is that if he's been sensible with his wages his probably set for life and can retire after this season doing **** all in the process <laugh>

Well Kenwyne's back with the squad after time off for family issues. He's flown out to Austria with the club for the fitness camp and pre-season games - watch this space.

Caulker and Campbell left behind to sort themselves out.

Flying in today/tomorrow to UK from Chile where he's receiving treatment for his thigh injury. Reason he's coming is because he needs to finalise his move to Inter (apparently).

Dikgacoi hasn't played (and still can't) and hasn't gone to Austria because his move to us is still held up by paperwork.

A shame Jones has rejoined us. Biggest waste of space in the squad.

Just reported that whilst they're over there, he's having an alpine horn inserted up his arse for Ole to tell him which way the goal is. <ok>

Well...I will go out on a limb here and say lets give him a month or two next season before hanging him. I saw a guy with zero confidence and poor fitness. Let's see if he can get a good preseason in and get his head in order. We all remember when he did have his head in the right place he was excellent. Yes, it is a long shot, but he may find some of his old self in the Champ. Positive thoughts, positive thoughts.....

That's where I'm on it too Temple. I'm not expecting much but at his best (been a long time since anyone has seen that) he would be a real weapon in the division.

As I said above it all depends on whether he wants to be a footballer anymore.

Why is he still on the books? I thought we were told this was a straight forward swap for Odemwingie. Jones at the time had just months left on his Stoke contract. Are we now to believe we have renewed his contract as well as paying wages almost on par with the much maligned Cornelius? If so who brokered this deal?

Obviously Solskjaer and Dalman would have had a lot to do with it, so you can lay the blame at their door no problem.

Funny thing though Bob. On the "Can't score, can't win" thread back in January about likely targets, you actually suggested and argued the case for us to sign him, and you went on to point out that he'd already got 5 goals from 10 games.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.....<laugh>

Am I under surveillance Spark?:bandit:

I did indeed at the time but I'm not paid to make such decisions or negotiate their earning.
