I can understand what Ristac is getting at here, and yet somehow I also can't help be enthusiastic about what MC says he is trying to do.

Unfortunately the worrying word in the above sentence is "says"

We have heard a lot of similar stuff from previous owners before, and how has that worked out, so I think its only natural that some of us arent going to get totally over excitement about what MC says, although to be honest deep down inside me I cant but help but believe that this guy is passionate.

MC biggest problem at the moment is that he has what I call "GFH" Syndrome. GFH were really good at telling us what they were going to do for the club, and how well did that work out. Whilst I don't think MC is anything like that, I would so much prefer it if he talked about his achievements within the club, after he has achieved them, not before, as rightly or wrongly, if he announces things like he has done and they don't happen, given our recent history would it be any wonder if fans actually doubt some of what he says.

Ristac has brought up the biggest issue associated with MC's comments so far.

Prior to purchasing the club, MC said he would buy back ER and TA on day one of his ownership, yes probably a lot of bravado talking there, and also probably once he got into the club and realised the level of debt the club had acquired under GFH, he revised that to purchasing in November. No where at that time, was there any mention that he would have to gather funds from a 3rd party such as a bank or sell a player for a lot of money to actually fund this, and yet now despite having come to a positive arrangement with regards to the GFH debt, the purchase of ER is reliant upon either a mortgage or the sale monies from Ross.

Whilst I will agree with you LIY, that whingers will always find something to moan about with regards to the progression of the club, it also works the other way. There are still folk on here who thinks Bates was a good thing for our club, and GFH and Haigh still had their supporters until the very last minute, so is it any wonder that people will scrutinise what MC says and comment upon his words and "perceived" lack of positive action.

However somehow deep in my heart I can't but help but like the guy, although my head keeps trying to reign my enthusiasm in. For once we appear to have someone who is actively attempting to get a handle on our costs with the aim of allowing the club to pay its own way, which is what I said Bates should have been doing, and also felt GFH had the ideal opportunity themselves to do, but neither of them, for whatever reasons, did so. So that for me is a positive.

I don't have any issues with the array of players that are coming in from abroad, in all honesty, they will probably be no worse than those that have joined the club in recent years, and again I can accept the fact that on the footballing side, this season will probably be written off. I am not expecting anything great to happen, and providing that all the changes that are happening in the background is able to move the club forward in the future, then whilst maybe I wont be happy with a mediocre football team, I can live with it short term, as I believe that what MC is saying he is doing and intends to do is the right direction for the club to go, and we will eventually see the rewards from that.

Now maybe MC has managed to pull the wool over my eyes, in that I am prepared to take him at face value with his press comments, but that isnt also going to stop me questioning things he says, especially at this early stage of his ownership, when at the moment all we have as a positive is our belief that the guy is taking us forward

If he did that people would moan he is not saying what is going on. I think it is a no win for him.

    The rest is spot on.

Sorry Bucks will have to disagree with you there

Boomtown Rats fulfill their commitments, unlike 69, who don't even let you know they are not going to turn up ;)

Whilst I will agree to some extent Xbpod, I'd prefer the quiet chairman/owner, who just got on with everything and hopefully be pleasantly surprised by what he achieves, as opposed to being told what they intend to do, of which only 10% comes to fruition.

As I said I do actually believe that MC will take us forward and be good for the club, maybe his pretty Italian accent has charmed me ;), but I can perfectly understand that there will be plenty out there who are going to be wary about someone who keeps telling us how good he is going to be for our club, without any substance behind his self proclaimed achievements

"Cellino maintains that McCormack was an asset he wanted to keep. At the very least, he wanted to avoid selling him to another Championship club – “15 goals a season to one of our competitors.”

“I’m still p***ed off about McCormack,” Cellino says. “If I was working just for Massimo Cellino, believe me, I would not have sold for one billion pounds.

“For a while I was keeping him for my satisfaction, to show him I was stronger than him. Then someone asked me ‘are you not selling him for the good of Leeds or just to show that you’re stronger than him?’ I had to do what was right for Leeds. So I told Fulham ‘okay, you say £10m, I say £11m.’ And we sold.”

Says it all about MC I think - he's pragmatic. Wanted to show he was boss - quite rightly as he's paying the wages - but changed his opinion when someone pointed out there was a better way. I think he is actually leading for once, something we have lacked for a long time. He also admitted to cocking up the McD sacking and recognised that the fans "wanted to kick my arse". Proof will be in the pudding, but at least he's up front.
