Good Morning Everyone, Cellino has been speaking to the YEP regarding our transfer activity. On top of the four new signings, we can expect '5 or 6 more' One player that will not be coming to Elland Road is Brazilian defender Rodrigo Ely from AC Milan. Leeds have decided not to look elsewhere. Ely is now expected to go out on loan to Serie B side Avellino. The Becchio rumours have surfaced again with ourselves and Watford the most likely candidates. If available for a nominal fee, who would be interested? QPR are paying Rio Ferninand 3.5m for a years contract . The 35 yo has spent the previous twelve years at old trafford, before he made this (then) record £30m move across the Pennines. Who had the better deal there, us for the 30m, or mancs for the services of Rio? Millwall defender Mark Beevers says he can't wait for the season to start. He said: “I want the games to start to be honest, it’s what any footballer wants, for the league games to start, and what a game to start with having Leeds at home. “We couldn’t have picked a better one. The big team up north against us, who are a really good team with passionate fans, it’s a good clash to kick-off the football campaign with.” Off camera he went on to say how disappointed he was that Steve, Mighty etc have deserted their team in their hour of need.....

Good Morning from the cote de Bardsey sunny as usual I think that the young midfielder from Roma will be signing for us next week for £2m seems like a good investment to me provided he can settle into life here in Leeds Cellino seems to know what he wants from his new recruits naturally some are going to fall by the way side a la Hunt Kenny etc Becchio to return why? He will want too much money not worth the hassle and upset that will cause
Morning all. I know we said e wanted some more quality, but I'm starting to get concerned about the number of newbees. Will they be able to cope with west yorkshire on a cold wet snowy night on a Tuesday after having had lumps kicked out of them 3 days earlier following a long drive down to somehwere like Bournemouth? Also, how will our players from last season that we want in the side feel if they're shoved aside by a load of cheap imports? On Becchio, its said that players shouldn't go back. But I can't help feeling he could be the ideal support for Smith, even more so if we're going to play some proper footy.
Morning all Ristac please have read of the Phil hay article in the YEP ...... then come back and tell me you have cheered up a bit. MC sounds like he knows what he's doing and some of his comments are brilliant. "why should I pay £9m for an English striker who scores 26 goals in the Championship when I can spend 4 million euros in France, Italy, Spain, Argentina, for a better player who scores 26 goals in a higher league" he also said the Ross money would pay two thirds of the ER buy-back price. The really good stuff was all about GFH and how he's had to sort them out and all the people who have been raping the club for years, which can only be about Bates. Leeds now on a sound financial footing for the first time in 12-years
I generally like what he is doing, I say read the post again as it is littered with contradictions.... Let's wait and see who he buys for £4m then my guess is nobody
Doc - I love Leeds Utd I will always support them, into my 40th year as a supporter. I consider myself as a realist, I will be positive when I see it happening. Cellino taking over was the best thing that could have happened at the time. I don't like people not being true to themselves and others, I don't like people who say what others wish to hear unless they mean it. I have some good vibes about Cellino but also a fair few doubts, I can see us bringing in too many foreign players too late and them not settling or gelling as a team and the coach being out by Christmas. If we own ER by then and we uncover 2-3 gems then that is progress. I don't expect promotion but I do expect the owner to deliver on his promises, already I feel he is playing the fans and I don't like that. It is easy for owners to talk the talk, we should have learnt that with GFH. Let us see what Cellino delivers, he says we have a budget of £15m and again a promise to buy back ER and now even some ground improvements. Let's wait and see
Morning all Becchio....no thanks, not good enough to get in a struggling Norwich side and not good enough for us if we are looking to move forward. Cellino is not daft enough to pay the wage demands he would want anyway. I disagree with Boggers about him supporting Smith, both similar players only Smith is younger, hungrier and will improve. A lot of positives in Massimos piece but as i said on another thread, the drearies will do their best to diss everything he says. He talks sense if you can see past his eccentricity.
LiY, the reason why I think he's a good foil for Smith is that he's more mobile than Smith. He works harder than Smith, and he will potentially just lay chances on a plate for Smith to knock in. More to the point given that we'll be playing proper footy now, if we do hoof it up to smith (make that a planned long ball to Smith for him to control or knock on), Becchio is likely to be around to knock it in himself. There are worse options than Becchio, but mybe Hunt/Morison will benefit from a change of playing style as well. Who knows?
Morning all Becchio could have a role to play in any championship team, but we got Smith now who will only get better. Smith over Becchio anyday for me. How was the storms where you were yesterday? Absoultley amazing in Andover
I'm still hoping that more players are going to be moved out of the club. I also hope that players like Smith who have been forced into a tough fitness regime of late, will be a lot more mobile. In Smith's case he could turn out to be a live-wire box player who could score a lot of goals. Pointless having a squad of over 24 first teamer's, and if we're looking at 10 foreign signings that only leaves room for Smith, Murphy, Mowatt, Dawson, Byram, Wootton, Pearce, Lees, Austin, ???????? We also gave new deals to 6 kids?
None in Southampton, unless I slept through them Hope I remembered to put the roof up last night on my sports car.....
Morning all That Cellino interview makes for fascinating reading. IF he acts on everything he has said there, then we really will have turned a corner. I still keep some scepticism like ristac though. Actions speak louder than words, so let's see what the next 14 days holds. I am a little worried that we are still signing the "quality" players we need and we are very close to the start of the season. This lot will need some time to gel
Has anyone noticed how much transfer activity happens on final deadline day. Lots of clubs do business up to last minute and this year we may be one of them with some quality players also not released till that day
