The next few days will be when we see Putins true colours. It has always been my belief that he is a power crazy lunatic who wants the eastern bloc back under his control. With his kgb past I believe he is trying to manipulate members of the eastern bloc states to rise up and fight against the government throw the countries into political anarchy and eventually vote to rejoin rhe Soviet Union. As Ukraine is a country close to his heart this was an obvious starting point.

The events of today have been most unfortunate for the people on board and also for Putins plan as the rest of the world's hand will now be forced to take much greater interest in the goings on in Ukraine. I can see him now sitting in his office absolutely furious similar to all those youtube videos of Hitler going off it demanding the people responsible be brought to him and murdered for throwing a spanner in the works of his plan. Things were going swimmingly for Putin with more and more Ukrainians uniting under a supposed freedom fighter banner which was being perfectly planned by Putin until a few idiots went and shot down a commercial plane and suddenly involved every other country in the world in the Ukrainian crisis. I see he is already trying to shift blame onto the Ukrainian government by stating it is the country in which the incidenyt took places fault.

If in the next few days he comes out and slates these supposed freedom fighters and offers them no further support then maybe he isn't such a bad guy and didnt plan this uprising but I will be most suprised if this is the case. I've said for many years Putin is the most dangerous man on the planet and as yet I have not been forced to change that viewpoint.

Its just my opinion like but I for one think the world would be a much safer place without him in power.

This has no bearing on commercial flying as far as I'm concerned, and that's speaking as an airline employee.

It looks like a tragic **** up by some ill trained, unskilled militants, I genuinely expect the fact it was a Malaysian flight is purely an unfortunate coincidence.

I'll tell you tomorrow if my sales teams results drop on their arse, but I just don't see it.

These people are fighting for their own country, after all.

I've just seen the video of the plane crash and all the body's lying on the floor. It's absolutely horrific the state of the corpses.

    Well, that was strange reading..

'Let the SAS take out Putin' <laugh> probably the dumbest thing i've ever read on this forum. They don't do suicide missions.

Planes have and will continue to be downed by nutters. Remember Lockerbie.

Yeah I can't imagine what they thought in their final minutes...

I am terrified of flying, and I hate getting on the plane. I know its the best way to travel so I do it.

But now after this, thats me not flying for a few years. I was planning to come back to Sunderland for Christmas, there is no chance now. The route normally taken is through all those European countries and I just don't trust it anymore.

With the conspiracies, I have no idea what the hell happened to MH370. Over here its gone all quiet, I know they still think it went down off the coast of Perth. With the new crash, I generally think it was shot down by rebels thinking it was a military plane.
There is a recording of a phone call that was interecepted where they are sh**ting themselves after finding out it was a civilian plane. Also the head leader of the rebel was boasting on twitter they shot down a military plane - he has since removed the tweet.

I generally believe that even though they are at war, they have no interest in attacking civilians and it was a mistake.

Living in Poland I can see how the Anti Putin, US EU rhetoric works. It's amazing after last weekends BRICS conference that the EU and US found out that sanctions wouldn't work but now they have another reason to attack. Very convenient! Same as when the Anti Eu polish president was killed in a plane crash.... These Incidents are to convenient.

Two nights ago over northern Poland there seemed to be a hell of a lot of military air traffic, the US warships are 'visiting' Gdynia. I live 40km from Russia, have Russian colleagues and it's scary. The EU is hell bent on WAR.

You want to hope that Sikorski doesn't end up getting the EU foreign ministry job. Tusk is arselicking Merkle as we speak. The Poles are ultra nationalistic and will happily use the EU's idiots to fulfill their plans of expanding and creating a Polish Commonwealth again, Living in the UK you don't know half of it. The poles are the problem, they've used Germany to gain ground before and will do it again.

    Several points.

    1. I don't live in the UK.

    2. You are talking like you see Poland as some kind of super power....they have used Germany?

    3. There is no way that there will be a war, a war no one can win.

Wherever you live can't be as close as I do. The Poles are dangerous and yes they do want to dominate the 'Slavic' region. It's always been on the agenda for Poles and has been suppressed by the Russians and the Germans for decades. Ask yourself. What would the Russians have to gain from brining down MH17?

In all honesty, i couldn't give a **** where you live, half of Poland is in the UK trying to lay bricks. In world terms they are minnows.

As for the plane, none of us the exact details yet. But if it was pro russian rebels (seems likely), i'm expecting Putin to release a statement shortly, condeming it.

There is not one country in the world, that would be prepared to take on the russians with a show of force..

See the chinese, seem to be keeping out of it altogether.

Thanks for caring mate but to be honest mate I wasn't asking you to give a ****. I was merely using the fact that I am closer to Russia then Sunderland to Middlesbrough to get a few facts right on here as well as working and living with Poles in Poland. I'll simply ask you again. What would the Russians have to gain from brining down MH17? People on here should start thinking outside of the box instead of spouting EU/US propaganda that the BBC and other news media want you to believe.

You're already thinking enough outside of the box for the rest of us. What a cookie.

The russians don't gain they lose. Because they gave the seperatists a bunch of weapons and didn't take away what they obtained from the ukrainian military. What choice does Putin have now but distance himself?

Bit of a sweeping claim in that sentence. Poland has been a punch back between east and west for a good few years, especially when divided between Hitler and Stalin in 1939. Their economy is just about recovering since the Soviet occupation so they are in no position to play super power off against each other.

Russia would gain great delight in claiming how good their SAMs were, except they got this wrong so their operatives posing as breakaway Ukrainians will be blamed for this. The black box will reveal all - unless it cannot be found. (hows that for conspiricay theory).

Po lands GDP is going down, unemployment up, they are asking for more cash from the eu and the rate of emigration is huge. Add to this a tiny birthdate. tusks polish government will lose heavily to an anti eu opposition unless the eu can fabricate an incident to make them win. A war is an ideal way to stoke up polish nationalistic tendencies. The poles make the bnp look like the Labour Party at times, racism and anti foreign sentiment is rife.

The poles used the Germans to take land from the Czechs before the war, they incited pogroms and sold out the Jews on the pretense of the Jews being communists (as if!)... Don't for one moment believe that little poland had no part in this.

Why no us citizens on flight Mh17?
