SUMMER 2K14 Transfer Rumour Thread...

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Skylarker, Jan 31, 2014.

  1. I thought they would be better. Maybe my expectations are too high then, I see a good striker scoring one in three chances.

My point is that the only stat that counts is the one that says he scored 31 in 37 games.

  3. As I put in post #6374 though, its not just the number of chances Studge needs, it the types of chances he misses. A top striker doesn't miss many clear cut one-on-one chances, Danny does. Suarez did in the 2012-13 season but was much better last year. Hopefully, Studge can show a similar improvement too.

  4. Which I've already said. My point is we created that many chances that allowed him to get away with the many misses. Needed that many chances doesn't help when it comes to a tight game such as against Chelsea for example.

PS...you do realise we were talking about Studge and you've posted Suarez's record right? same point still applies though.

I did too. Just for reference:
    messi-17.5%
    ronaldo-14.3% (so many shots taken)
    falao-18%
    ibrahimovic-16.1%
    Cavani-16.6%
    Alexis Sanchez-28.8% (!!)

Obviously no accounting for the quality of chances, like you said would be nice to see Studge put away more of the tap ins, but the signs are at least promising.

    That's bollocks

The conversion rate is calculated by the number of efforts on goal. So a player who takes a chance on a long shot, snap shot etc ends up with a lower conversion rate, which ultimately means the square root of **** all.

The only thing that matters is the goals column

Would you be happy with Sturridge as Evertons striker Tobes?

    #6394
  15. Of course he would, he's better than Koné, Naismith and Long put together <laugh>

I read it before posting mate, you were talking out yer crack.

Conversion rate is a sky era stat that means ****e all.

A striker who never takes a chance and converts from 6 yards off the back of others creativity could have a cracking conversion ratio, but it doesn't make them better than the striker with a ratio far inferior. The only stat that matters for a striker is goals scored

Yes, he's sound. I was about the only one on here who said he was a great signing when you took him.

  19. Well, if you had really read back then you would have seen that I also said (as I regularly do) that I pay no attention to stats. I also mentioned the type of chances missed and regularly used the word "clear cut" when mentioning chances. However, feel free to continue to try and make something out of nothing Tobes <hug>
