Israel has begun a ground invasion of Gaza. Gonna be nasty.

 

Today really is such a ****ing horrible news day. Such a beautiful day and yet we humans conspire to make it very, very dark.

 

I just watched the news and asked my wife why people always want to fight other people?

 

Both Israel and Gaza are as bad as each other.

 

Well hopefully in this case an invasion will minimalise civilian casualties. They don't have a lot of choice when Hamas is shelling them from next door and ignoring ceasefires. Gotta destroy Hamas without harming innocent Palestinians.

 

I feel really quite effected by this stuff today. Normally I can turn the thick skin round, but this is just ****ing terrible and may have some really quite unpleasant repurcussions - and it's so utterly avoidable.

I've just seen some of the footage that the state owned Russian television was showing too - bodies and all - clearly for 'maximum psychological effect'.

Could very, very easily been any of us.

Exactly. It's an horrific human tragedy first off.

We can only hope it's some kind of ****-up by the separatists, with no Russian collusion, or it could get very scratchy on the political front.......

 

There will be denial after denial on that part. Can't see any clarity coming out, politically too dangerous.

The whole thing just disgusts me.

The sooner something terminal happens to Putin though, the better for the world. People talk about the Kim's of North Korea being dangerous. They have nothing at all on that man.

 

Yeah Putin is a really terrifying man. I'm worried what'll happen when he's done stomping around Ukraine.

 

Delicate one for me personally. Won't give details but a family situation involves discussions around that region and those two countries.

 

A friend of mine works in military intelligence - you should hear what he has to say about Putin..........

 

He may not stomp for long. The closer we get to the World Cup, the cleaner the image he'll want to portray.

 

At least the reason nobody's really worried about North Korea is because they're weak enough that they'd be wiped off the map if they tried anything. With Putin, I'm not sure.

 

That'd be worth hearing over a beer!

 

He's fantastic company over a beer.

As an example of the general feeling amongst those circles about Putin - I said to him during some Russian military exercises on the western border "well it's not like he's going to invade Finland or something"

His response - "What on earth gives you the idea that he wouldn't......"

 

If we go in militarily against Putin, it's goodnight time I'm afraid.......

 

If America's military budget doesn't scare them, I don't know what will.
