I'm admitting the attempted namechange and the resultant 'publicity' (notoriety?) for the club does not seem to have brought in much money. So therefore a foolish ego trip and tantrum?
I think Wonga and Cash Converters were by far the two worst sponsors in the league last season. Any bookies is an improvement, I don't buy the nonsense about bookies being on a par with payday lenders, millions of people bet for fun, not because they need to, or have a problem. It's like claiming all pubs are bad, just because some people are alcoholics.
This isn't out of apathy but I will be pretty difficult to find the details. I remember reading around 4 years ago that the deal was worth more than a few of the lower clubs in the Premiership at the time. It will be pretty difficult to find the article from back then and I am currently on my phone so even more difficult. The way I see the sponsorship is that it isn't the greatest but it is definitely a step up from the majority of our previous sponsorships. It also is the most lucrative in the clubs history and they also sponsored Sevilla last season which are a Champions League club. So I don't know if it is a case of us getting over ourselves ??? Honest question not an accusation.
The Cash Converters deal wasn't even good by Championship standards, it wasn't even close to any Premier League deal, it was way lower than the Totesport deal.
Hull commercial director Simon King said: "We've made no secret of the fact that we want to continue capitalising on our brand in the Asian region. "That takes years to achieve to full effect but this is the perfect start." Why haven't we arranged an Asian preseason tour?
It's hardly a thing you can throw together and something I imagine will be on the to do list for next closed season. FA Cup and Europe being a distraction and they would have wanted to have the new kit, badge and sponsorship in place. I want to remain Hull City AFC but I would have been all for them being marketed as Hull City Tigers on an Asian tour.
How many months does it take to arrange a couple of games out there? Surely with joined up thinking we should have had a tour out there sorted out there several months ago?
so what is so wrong with the going into CC and buy some secondhand item or sell off your own CD collection to pay towards a holiday in Blackpool ? thats the same type of example as saying millions of people used betting offices for fun . there is a reason why at the end of every Betting ad there is a Gambler Aware icon , people get into gambling debt > pawn goods > pay debt > more debt > no goods to pawn > crime > pay debt/bet to win big OK it may be an extreme example , but a valid one and why i say dont hold one up as morally imperfect but not the other , just coz its a hobby
I draw a distinction, because one is a company whose whole business model is based on taking advantage of the most disadvantaged. The other just provides a service that the majority enjoy without any problems. There are warnings after every drink advert and every financial service advert, it doesn't mean every mortgage is dangerous.
TBF on Cash Converters...I got a absolute bargain guitar because they didn't have a club on they where selling.
