    A friend of mine did the latter, because there was no rules on what one had to wear under (beyond the general legal ramifications of wearing nothing at all). Shorts and flip flops, with the robe flowing behind him.

    Not knocking her at all, she was lovely. She did the ceremony kind of, she's a pro-chancellor of the uni so gave the closing speech and shook everyone's hand. Remembered everyone's names and had a brief chat with everyone, very kind. wasn't until after we got outside that my mum and parents of friends informed us that she's actually famous.

    It's always awful when civilian airliners are shot down and hundreds of people die simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time....
