I think, with the weather settling down and the form beginning to take shape, it's time to have another attempt at my £10k Betting Bank. For those who don't remember, or were not here at the time, this is me putting my neck on the block with bets being placed using an imaginary £10k Betting Bank. All stakes are taken from the remains of the Betting Bank. Profits from any bets are placed into a Piggy Bank and any returned stake moneys go back into the Betting Bank. The Series is finished when the Betting Bank reaches zero. NB as all (or most) bookies go BOG, all bets in this series will be BOG. Previous series can be seen here Probably time for me to make a loss. Bet calculator.
First bet tonight 19:40 SANDOWN Billingsgate £800 win at 7/4 (now missed the 2/1 advised earlier) George Cinq £800 win at 15/8
All 3 have been a major success Ron - if I had a spare 10 Grand I'd be following like-for-like. Unfortunately I don't even have a spare 10 Quid Best of luck
Just love this retirement business. Better half allows me €50 a week (from my own money ) for the GG's which I rarely spend (accumulation of funds not allowed) so I ain't got no worries at all. Not like the mad days of my youth! . Good luck with your 10k quid, Ron. Man, you really think big!
I don't believe it. F**ing Spencer pulls off the rails and sweeps down the outside to win at 16/1 on a horse that hadn't run for 698 days and over a distance short of his (alleged) optimum. My horse backed from 5/1 down to 15/8 fav and btn a neck for the place after looking as though he had come through to win 2 out. Can't do anything about those.
Resisting the temptation to lump on Limato at Newbury tomorrow. Very promising gelding but it is his turf début and he does have C&D winner Adaay to cope with who was beaten only 3¼L by The Wow Signal in a G2 at Ascot 2 weeks ago. At a best priced 11/10 it's too risky. Can't see anything else getting a look in so question is: £1,000 win Limato 11/10 returns £2,100 £800 win Adaay 15/8 returns £2,300 If one wins it's either £300 profit or £500 profit. Is that enough to back? In all probability one should win so it's a fairly safe bet and had the odds for either winning been around Evs then I would have lumped on but, at those odds, I'm not interested.

Might be interested in a few tomorrow Newbury 14.05 Provenance, but ground may be a risk 14.40 Al Kazeem, banker if fit 15.50 Possible little fun bet on Realtra and Tiggy Wiggy with savers on Harry's Dancer and Fast Act Haydock 18.25 Rise Up Lotus Newmarket 14.25 Criteria 17.20 Winter Thunder Irish Oaks, Tarfasha and Bracelet Probably end up with none of them but an interesting day's racing
That would be far too short for me stick. Too much competition to be less than 4s (9/2 at present). I don't think it's the 2 horse race the betting would have us believe.
Its a one horse race for me Ron. Tiggy Wiggy 9/2 wheelbarrow at the ready! A bit more rain wouldn't hurt either.
Will you be lumping on Tarfasha in the Irish Oaks Ron - apparently it was fully expected to win ours by her trainer hence being backed into a shorter price than Tagroodha. I think Hamdan's willingness to enter Tagroodah in the King George was decided by the knowledge he had every chance of winning the Irish Oaks anyway with this horse. I am hopeful that Tagroodah will win the Ascot race but I am confident Tarfasha will win this one.
Harry's Dancer and Fast Act were both 14/1. They are now as low as 7s and 9s. That's my savers gone so I'll forget that race.
No. Only 5/2 and not that certain to win. I did fancy her in the Oaks so I won't go against her but Volume was only a nk behind her and Bracelet was my original fancy for the Oaks so I won't go against her. Interesting race but I'll leave it alone.
