Without trawling through the last 27 pages of this thread, I'm left unsure about who we've signed (as in 'done deals'). I think we have... Fabianski Montero Gomis New deals for... Leon Williams Bartley Anything I'm missing?
Taken from a Scouse site... Swansea City Accept Tottenham Bid for Liverpool Target Ben Davies "Those pesky Spurs… It looks like we may have a bidding war brewing amid reports that Swansea City have accepted an offer of £10mil for Liverpool target Ben Davies with the Reds mooting upping their offer for the promising fullback. The Anfield outfit had an initial offer of £8mil rebuffed by the Welsh side late yesterday. Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is known to be looking at alternate options after a deal for Sevilla defender Alberto Moreno collapsed with the two sides unable to negotiate a suitable price for the Spaniard. The Northern Irishman is a known admirer of Davies and has reportedly put him above Chelsea’s Ryan Bertrand on his fullback shopping list, but this latest twist may see him miss out on an important target. Much like Rodgers, new Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking to shore up the defence and sees the Swansea youngster as the perfect starting point. Although they now have a deal in principal in place after the fee was accepted by the Jacks, it’s believed that Davies is aware of Liverpool’s interest and will speak with the club if and when they match the bid. After shipping an ungodly amount of goals last season, Rodgers is attempting to take steps to rectify the problem and another bid for the promising youngster — who impressed in his 34 league appearances for the Swans last season — could very well be forthcoming. In the meantime, the 21-year old has been pulled from Gary Monk’s squad that’s set to face Liga MX side Chivas Guadalajara in America later today."
Enfield Independent.... Tottenham Hotspurs have agreed a price of £10m with Swansea City for defender Ben Davies 3:09pm Wednesday 16th July 2014 in Sport "Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a price of £10m for Swansea City defender Ben Davies, according to the Daily Telegraph. Davies, 21, has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane throughout the summer, though Liverpool are also understood to be keen on the Welsh international. New Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino has made left-back a priority this summer and Davies, who only made his Swansea debut in August 2012, tops the Argentine's list. Neath-born Davies has impressed hugely at the Liberty Stadium, displacing regular left-back Neil Taylor after he recovered from a broken ankle and going on to establish himself as the club's first-choice in the position. " ....gonna stop there, it's all over the internet
NSG been in lots of papers. gathering a bit of pace now. I think we can say goodbye to Ben, hope there is a bidding war and we get a little more for him.
I don't think we're getting anywhere near as much as other Prem clubs would get for a home-grown talent Davies' age....but the thing I cling too is that it is likely that the likes of Allen and Ben Davies will come back to us down the line, on the cheap, having made us a wedge #trying.to.be.positive
This 'home grown' thing is rubbish though innit. We all saw what Englands finest achieved at the world cup.
I doubt if we will get much more than £10M but it does beg the question Is Luke Shaw worth more than 3 times the value of Ben?
Shaw is a very decent player but over-hyped. Davies isn't as talented imo and if £10M is offered we should grab it. Taylor is good enough to make a comeback and I'm probably one of the few that thinks there's not much to choose between Taylor and Davies in ability though I know others disagree. But we should sign someone to give Taylor some serious competition at LB imo.
If true i see the scousers are taking the piss again. Who the f** do they think they are with these piss take offers. http://football-talk.co.uk/93470/liverpool-set-to-make-15m-bid-for-25-goal-striker/ And have we lost out on another target. https://www.clubcall.com/swansea-city/palace-nick-swans-target-1733442.html
Don't worry, Huw will make sure any club wanting our players, especially ones we don't want to lose, pay top dollar.
Agree Never. He never caves in, in these situations. He's dealt with Levy, Brendan is kids stuff for Huw.
