...Or Fans as they're known as now. Actually, while I think about windmills, what happened to the Dutch created then denied thread? Sort of expected it locked after Aggro demanded it, but to find it's been deleted was a bit strange. Can't wait to hear the reasoning for deleting a thread. Ok, fans. Anyone elses missus have a floor standing one in the bedroom? Mine has. On her side of the bed. She turns it on when we go to bed, has it pointing right at her. Sounds like a frigging diesel genny when its going, and the only thing I get from it is the frigging noise. None of the "cool flowing air" reaches me. Not that I need it, no, just not having the quilt on me and having the window open works just fine thanks. Plus, she insists on wrapping herself cocoon style up in the quilt (22.5 tog goose down) so just her eyes and nose are exposed, and claims the fan makes a difference. I don't get it. I told her she should just sleep outside the sodding quilt but her response to that is she likes being "snuggled up in the quilt" and that the fan does cool her down. Even though shes wrapped up in the bastid quilt. Can anyone shed any light on this frankly strange behaviour? Am I being unreasonable? Charlie?? Ladies perspective on this??
I have one myself, and I use it. I like the house to be cold. She hates it. Whenever I stay in a hotel with air con I turn it right down to fridge temperature. Air con is the next instalment I reckon. And careful mentioning that post where Dutch was proven a liar and a fraud, he'll delete any mention of it.
Air con? In the UK? Are you mad? I don't even use it in my car. Unless the witch and daughters are in the car of course. Well til they moan its too cold. I like cold, but I like natural cold. Not some evil man made cold that is sucking the very life out of the air. Don't you find they dry the atmosphere out?
Opening the windows and sunroof is sufficient for local drives but air con in the car is a godsend for motorway drives in hot weather - focus it on the feet and cool down.
I would give my right nut (or left) for some Air-con right now. My office is sweltering, a fan just isn't cutting it!
I like it, I don't feel the cold. Cold air is far more fresh. Air con keeps your pillows cold, and there's not worse when it gets a bit warm than hot pillows. Besides if you get too cold you can just get snug and wrap up in your bedding, when you get too hot, what can you do? Natural cold air is best obviously but air con cold is miles ahead of natural hot and humid.
One thing I don't get.......Candles and the fact most women I know are cold all the time even when it's sweltering.
i hate air con in a car , its like witchcraft . It feels like summer with the windows down and a bead of sweat galloping down ur back as for the bedroom , we have the fan on most nights , n crank it to nuclear when we get friskaaay (ahem)
Still got the bastarding 10.5 togger on our bed. Reason being, it's the only goose feather one we've got and that's all she likes. Can't stand them myself so I refuse to buy another of a lower rating on the tog scale. It's a battle of wills and I lose whichever way it goes.
I have a fan on my chest of drawers which blasts up from the bottom of the bed. These warm sticky nights are no good for a fat lad so I need a nice cooling breeze. Only problem is, when I break wind it's like BAM.....right in my face, like getting hit with a fart stick. I like to dip my toe into the scent rather than have it forced up my nostrils.
Not sure I can shed any female insight into this topic Happy T. I have a 4.5 summer tog on for well erm summer really. In winter I swap to a higher one but not too high mind. See I would rather put layers on than be maffting in bed. I like a window open as I like fresh air. A fan just circulates the air round rather than create colder air so I don't use them. Guess I'm not a typical female.
Well thanks for the response Charlie. I am half disappointed and half in awe of you now. My missus is definitely of the "being wrapped up in a cocoon of thick quilt regardless of the temperature" persuasion. Unless this is just a ploy to keep the female side of the species a total mystery which is fine, married for almost 30 years and have 3 daughters I still don't understand them.
Can't you get quilts that have his and hers bits for each one. So one side thicker and t'other side thinner? Just zip in't middle. Like I said I'm probably not typical for a female. I do have a plastic shed as ypu know!
