Costa was injured. Shouldn't have played.

He played like 10 mins of the Champions League Final, and was deemed unfit but Del Bosque took him anyway.

How much did Luiz pay you to leave him out of that XI?

I think people have always had concerns over Luiz's defensive abilities. Ramos and Pepe (when not getting sent off, the dirty prick) are competent players.

    Neither Kroos or Schweinsteiger? Controversial.

Oscar in a deeper midfield role is unusual.

I think Ozil 95% of the time is awful.

Should have been more specific. Oscar and mascherano are in CM roles not DM roles

I'd like to give another perspective to this thread.

The media (and thus most fans ) are intent on choosing these teams of the week, teams of the tournament, etc.

In fact it's not a team it's just a bunch of individuals thrown together that might look good on paper.

Another fact is that it doesn't matter how talented these players might be, they still might be a lousy TEAM.

So, my team of the WC is obvious - GERMANY.

I don't think it's meant to be taken literally when they say team of the tournament, basically it's just a best player of the tournament for each position.

    Yep I appreciate that.

I know it's only a bit of fun but the point I was making was the obsession with individuals by the media.

Another thing that annoys me are players that celebrate scoring by showing off their name on the backs of their shirts. Someone needs to remind them that the only reason they've scored a goal is because of the presence of their team mates.

I suppose I'm a bit old fashioned like that.....

What if they created the goal themselves like Messi or Maradona? Or smashed it from way out? Or it was a penalty? Or a free kick?

Very hard to disagree with ^^^^^ this team. Kroos maybe in midfield with Neymar up top in place of RVP ?

No different - it's all about the team.

That should be the first thing drummed into young players when they start playing.
