Laudrup would have made a better plan all round in my opinion . Its like some on here announcing that the only reason we stayed up was because we got rid of Laudrup .... well I beg to differ , if Im allowed . Napoli made it to the finL and Laudrup would have known better who to play .Monk got to play around with Laudrups good and healthy team during easy times and almost blew it , lets see how he does from scratch. Not optimistic but will cheer more than the average bear .

Its not the fall from the Permier , its the landing in the championship . Gotta give credit to Jenkins there , we land a rich club .... we may get lucky , depending on how long Huw allows .

Whoa...incredible article and thread to read. I've been away from the boards for a while as I've been busy with work (and still am), but I was so optimistic about next season... I didn't realise this was the general feeling.

Cheer up guys. We could be Southampton.

I saw all the home games last season and as it progressed it was obvious that the other teams had sussed us out and in the end Laudrup had to go as other managers in the same situation would have had to. Whether Monk was the right appointment only time will tell. If he is not I hope sentiment does not stand in the way and the right decision is made sooner than later.

That's true. They've had the **** kicked out of them ... money doesn't replace good players, it just provides the means if you can find a player good enough who is available.

I actually Think laudrup was well aware of that and thats why he wanted us to move it forward through the middle faster, problem was that aint leons game and a few others perhaps wernt quite up to it, hence when it worked it was sublime and when it didnt we were bang average .

IMO we Are revertimg back to what was well and truely worked out, monk then experimented with a similar formation against Southampton and got it wrong .

Laudrup tried to evolve us but for some reason something was stopping the progression. Our best fluid football last season was with his players in the team. Valencia away, man utd in the cup, palace away .

Laudrup knew we could keep it better than most but his idea was to move it faster, huw jenkins talked about our principles being eroded away but from a football perspective you cant stand still.

Its no suprise that monks toughest games were against the so called lesser teams playing what he knew best, standard rodgers ball .laudrups record against the so called lesser teams was very good because our players were able to move it better against lesser players and it was ta tactically fresher .

Its perhaps another reason why laudrups top targets were pacy forwards, aspas, chadli, and the kid that went to dortmumd .

We had bony who is awesome but maybe a slight adjustment to how laudrup wanted us to operate.

Liverpool this season was where IMO laudrup wanted to go, we have alot of senior players that Are very comfortable playing a certain way, pushing them to act, react and move the ball faster was always going to be a struggle for some and thats why IMO results were a bit up and down sometimes.

Monk is a smart guy and Will come to the same conclusions as laudrup but maybe wont try and please everyone, , we dont know if he has the players to carry it off though .

It would also explain why There was a split, some buying into a progressive style and some not wanting to .

Just my take on it <ok>

1: Bony , brought along slow last season by the first manager and saved the second manager arse to avoid relegation . Bony scored one of his most memorable goals ( ask him ) late at Old Trafford to win our fourth round FA Cup game with Laudrup at the helm . Then watched the team run onto the pitch against Everton under our second manager .Wants out !
2 :Michu , Poz , Pablo , Canas...all in disbelief from the moment Laudrup was sacked and all wanted out at the end of the season at this moment.
3 : Ben Davies : Taylor got seriously hurt and Laudrup could have brought in someone ( but like his stint with the Danish national team to bring out confidence in young players ) but he throws Davies into the deep end and now people want Davies for 10 million and him making 400 £ a week 2 years ago . Seems to me Davies would go, without remorse , on the heels of the board sacking his friend and manager.Just read on Swansea Way , Davies was pulled from a game because a 10 mllion £ bid from Surs was accepted
4 Routledge: speaking of confidence building , what Laudrup did for Routledge doesnt get overlooked by teams that are looking for a GREAT manager, not looking for Routledge to extend for obvious reason.
5: Shelvey : tweeted from the moment Laudrup got sacked , total confusion , right offer hes gone , if not dont expect a 110 % effort , just a hand out on payday
6: Vorm : He would settle at good wages at any team run professionally at this point I think .
7 Chico will stay( I hope ) .. not sure why ...I love "Chico Football "
8: Is there anyone left... Garry Monk : no playing around with someone elses team now , welcome to the real football world 2014 -2015
9: Jenkins: Huws good luck was always hiring good managers ....

Not officially .... which is I think is your point.

Even all the stuff in the Post about Ben and Spurs and Liverpool is just a reporter writing whatever **** pops into his head because with each new posting there are flips and flops and seemingly nothing concrete whatsoever.

Agree Yankee. The stories in the press have been diabolical at times. Sooner the window shuts the better although it does give us something to discuss during the off season.

Yes. Didn't you know that we haven't got any players left at all. They've all gone. Well, that's what the pessimists would have you believe.

A few weill leave and a few will arrive, just like happens every season with every club. Too many on here believe any nonsense they read in the press.
