I think its about time that we stopped getting mugged off by other clubs and I'm glad that Clegg has finally grown a pair! Swansea have previous when it comes to failure in paying their bills so why should we just let them get away with it? We are a business as well and all power to clegg for taking this further. Yes I am passionate about our traditional history of being a warm and friendly club but that doesn't mean that we should accept being shat on by all and sundry!

Ipswich believe they are entitled to £160,000 for services rendered ie four short sub appearances and one goal....plus bonus for us getting to the prem.....

Either you have a very clever lawyer or Huw Jenkins has lost it....Could be either or both.

I think we just expect Swansea to honour the agreement we had with them(seems fair to me). I don't know Huw is at fault???

I'm not saying we should JWM but surely there are more gentlemanly ways of conducting business. A contract is a contract and should be honoured, I'm not disputing that but when I saw the article on BBC website it made me cringe.
I think Dr Clegg is just a puppet for ME, basically doing what he says and taking the flak for his decisions. Everyone has a bash about Clegg regarding transfers but none of us know the restraints he is put under from ME. Maybe there is a conference phone in the room when we talk to players and ME is more hands on than we know. Again, all speculation.
You are right about the fact we have been taken for mugs recently over transfer fees but I think you can see things have changed in that respect with our current policy of not paying over the odds.

IF we are owed the money, we're owed the money. IF the terms of the contract were agreed between two consenting and relatively sane parties, just get the money in and move on......

Johnny what previous are you talking about ? The swans operate in the black pay all bills and actually do run things properly, so stop bashing the club because of your perceived ideas and put your proof of that, by the same token proof that the club does actually owe ipswich money should be posted up, you seem to think that the swans should just pay any speculative invoice without due consideration.

If you are talking about the cva we were in going back 8 years ago, can I point out that your club also didn't pay it's way and was in one also at aboutthe same time !

Speculative invoice Jager??? I can't imagine any transaction nowadays would rely on anything other than a formal contract with full terms and conditions agreed ahead of time. It should therefore be a simple process... either you owe us the money or you don't. Terms cannot subsequently be renegotiated and you can't decide to ignore your contractual obligations after the event just because they don't suit!

So due consideration don't exist then in Ipswich ? It's a contractual agreement yes, but if one party gives an unexpected invoice it's speculated until it's proven it's owed, at no point have I said that the terms should be renegoitiated just proven it's owed, if you signed an agreement with say sky tv and you have paid everything you thought that was owed when you cancelled it after 12 months, but then they sent you a bill for £160 saying you owed it because they continued your service after the fact , would you question it? Or would you pay up automatically because sky said you have an agreement !

If the money is owed it will be paid, but it's still not explained why your chairman didn't ask about when he spoke to ours a few weeks ago, it appears your chairman prefers to do things in public, this is giving a bad image to both clubs

Not bigger than us me thinks but I would say that you are probably the second biggest club in the whole of Wales.

I just came to ask to ask how Ipswich fans feel about how the way it's been dealt with.

Because if we're honest, it's been dealt with in a very dirty way... This is exactly the sort of thing that can be done behind closed doors. For example, in the conversation Clegg and Jenkins had a few weeks back. Maybe it's just my opinion, but this situation makes Ipswich look just as bad as Swansea. If you're capable of an objective view point then it's clear to see Ipswich have had plenty of opportunity to deal with it quietly, but instead have decided that go straight to the press in an attempt to make Swansea look like the bad guys, and create a over hyped scenario around.

However, if we (Swansea) owe money, then it should be paid in full.

Bit embarrasing for both of us tbh....

Like somebody has previously mentioned you either owe us or don't. And from the hissy fit from Clegg it appears that you do.

Whether you've been ripped off or not is a matter of opinion but I doubt Huw had a gun to his head when he signed the contract.

Totally agree Monkey. Whatever fee we have agreed, whether it seems "good value" or not should be paid. In my mind that's not up for question. I'm just a bit shocked and embarrassed for both clubs about the way it's been dealt with. I think there the term "transfer embargo" is being banded around to gain more momentum for the cause.

    We'll see eh!

Whatever had been done previously and quietly we would not have heard about, so maybe Swansea have been holding out or being awkward behind closed doors so the only option was to open the doors and embarrass them into paying the bill.

Totally agree weighty, I'm sure that cleggy hasn't just said it in the press without thinking about the consequences first! the way i take it is that we have been trying to talk to someone and the swans have just avoided the issue, why i dunno, if it was cardiff i could understand because you can't trust them as far as you can throw'em.

Maybe we should have had the contract drawn up in Welsh! They obviously have a problem understanding English!

Great to see my help with your possessive pronouns has paid off, Plum. Nice editing!

Amazing what a little coaching from our non-league educational system can do. <ok>
