Do they actually take any longer than anyone elses? Who knows? It could be that ther mags have been trying to sign Janmatt (or whatever he's called) since January and that Utd have been negotiating over theirs for weeks - just, as has been said, they knew they were safe and could comfortably start the ball rolling negotiating with players before the last 2 weeks of the season - we couldn't

Getting well worried now, Newcastle sign this and that as do west ham, qpr signing one and extend one, west brom super in pre season.

What our chatter, wickham will he or won't he resign, loans will they come back, borini and alonso. Now this is still the same team (signings have no way excited me nor improved the team IMHO) that scrapped through relagation battle albeit without all the out of contract players departed.

Sure gus sun tan is sorted any news on our team gus!! Dunno when our pre season starts but seen the posts out there about the team as of now, please show one with a few injuries, O'Shea, fletcher injured god forbid catts banned, threadbare comes to mind.

C'mon gus and team, ramp us fans up

    Remember the Peruzzi saga?

Getting our hopes up with will we wont we signings?

By playing their cards close to their chest, the club are doing things cautiously. Frustrating yes, but I'm not too worried...Yet

Not much looks to be happening on the safc transfer front, but when it does, gus and the club can't afford to get it wrong.

We should have a healthy transfer kitty. So what we do spend needs to be spent right.

Our squad survived by a miracle last year, which provides evidence that quality is essential if we are to survive this year.

We can't take a chance on unknown South Americans or players that have had a few good games in the World Cup. What we need is a mixture of proven premiership and European quality.

We also need to give these players time to settle in, so signing them sooner rather than later will help.

I think they club are now operating on a paper thin budget, and this could land us in trouble. In general you pay for what you get, and we need to invest in some quality playing staff this year, otherwise we are in for another rocky season.

Since Short took over we've played cards very close to our chest - prime examples are some of the idiotic links in some of the papers as they're fishing for stories because they have no gossip/ Nothing comes out of Sunderland until there's something to tell and that's the best way to be IMO. OK so I'm a little worried but other clubs have signed unproven players - everyone says "Step up to international" - Personally I think it's a step down from club level nowadays for most of the top players (Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, most of the England squad even) - they all play with better players at club level than at international - so signing someone who has a great world cup is often a poisoned chalice and doesn't mean anything in PL standings. (although if Khedira goes to Arsenal I think they'll win the league!)

None of the signings made by those around us would've excited me as a SAFC fan - I like what I've heard from my Black Country mates about Billy Jones and also from my mates family who are Wigan Season ticket holders about Gomez - We've brought in 3 players with PL experience for nothing - there isn't another club in the country that has done that well (relatively - financially speaking) so far in the market

I'm talking about the types of players needed. But a MOD can merge if it's felt needed.

I was going to say fella, We already have an active thread covering these concerns. It's only the 10th thread down and it's still active.

Don't want to come across a winging **** but it's my pet hate on this forum. After somebody (Blunham Mackem in this case) has already gone to the effort of creating the exact same thread first, for it to be just ignored or over looked is a tad disrespectful. People really need to read down the thread list before posting new threads, or not, free country <laugh>

I had that same thought this morning, they'd have some talent in that midfield and attack, I still think their back 5 won't be strong enough, but they're definitely gonna be improved, they could do it.

Whisper it though pal or you'll never hear the end of them.

Actually, I thought it the the silence is golden thread, my apologies. But it's still very similar and most of these threads have developed into us talking about what we need. There's one from Com active.

I've not had enough nicotine yet. I need to go and smoke and stop being a grumpy **** <laugh>

Am I the only one who is glad we're playing our cards close to our chest? So many seasons we claim that we're going to sign X or Y etc and we get ripped off big time because we've announced we have some money, or we have beer ending transfer sagas to worry about, just sit back and relax, we can't do anything any way and right now I'm happy to take signing one at a time. Fingers crossed that Alonso will be with us shortly

Simple, buy from the domestic market, signings take time, buy from the overseas market and things get done quicker. Gus wanted Premiership experience, we've supported him, we need to accept this will take time.

Maybe he's doing his business using his connections at Spurs and Chelsea. Neither of those teams have a habit of releasing players before they have new players in, City as well have to cut down their squad, and United, maybe Liverpool will release a few. They're the players you wanna be going after when they get the green light to leave, not the ****e cast off by the likes of Stoke or Aston Villa.

Once pre-season is in full swing, I can see a merry-go-round of transfers inside the EPL this summer.

Get Alonso, vergini and Borini signed up. Then if we can bring in Ki for the price we get for Ndayie that should be a no brainer.

Then id spend the bulk of our kitty on a centre back and striker.

Thatd be 9 signings, id be happy with that.
