http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/166399-lambert-why-i-came-back-early oh oh.... "This [early start] is what I have to do now; it's no longer a choice for me, really. I know my body and know what I've got to do, to get into the same shape as everybody else and it tends to be that I need to do a little bit more." Does this mean as the season progresses and he sit on the bench he'll be less and less match fit and basically not be an option? He's just done a brief world cup campaign where he didn't feature at all. He trained though... so he's back early which is commendable but feels he needs it to get "in shape" I'd be concerned that give him 3 months playing 10mins at a time and he'll be off the pace. hopefully he can compensate in training midweek but it'd be a concern to my mind.
Pre-season is about putting fuel in the tank ie baseline fitness. After that daily training is about maintenance and skills development. I see absolutely nothing contradictory in this piece.
Lambert will rotate in and out of the team. He'll start cup games and possible games prior to CL matches. The better he plays the more he starts.
I think he's saying that because he's playing for a bigger club in Liverpool. We just demand more than Southampton and he knows that.
I really do think Lambert is a fantastic player. His goal for English in the warm up friendly he played was immense. Roy should have used him more.
We'll have to wait and see. I dont think he's all that injury prone. If is then Bony will do the business
well if he's gotta go in after having an england training camp under his belt would you not think he's says he needs to work harder than the younger lads to keep up. Usrely then if he only plays once a month or whatever he will be well off the pace? I'll wait and see but its soemthing to think on IMO
I think what he means is younger lads are usually naturally fitter whereas as you get older you have to do a bit more to keep up. Nothing to be concerned about IMO
