The English language is a strange thing. Re-signed means he has signed on for more time. Resigned means he has quit.
Happy with this news. Bobby will always be a QPR hero after Wembley, now he has the reward for that, and the chance to prove himself as an impact player for us back in the top flight...
He's signed on massively reduced terms which is the positive thing Fair play to him, he deserved and earned another year after that goal and his general performances in the back end of the season. When he came on in the Play Off Semi Final against Wigan at Home he absolutely terrorised those CB's.
You may be right Ciarrai but please take a minute to go back over the dozens and dozens of threads over the last two years highlighting how ineffective BZ has been. We don't know for certain how his injury is now and how many more days next year he will be out injured. He isn't good enough for this level anymore. Only Milwall were interested in him!! I don't make decisions on sentiment.
Don't disagree with much of what you say, but at least we all get to sing "Oh Bobby Zamora" for another year. Surely worth it on that basis alone.
Maybe I'll say the same about Dunne. I knew he would be a good signing and was perfect for what we needed last year but IMO it's a step too far giving him a one year extension. I wouldn't have given extensions to Dunne, Hill or Zamora and TBH I have serious concerns about Faurlin too. He has NOOOO pace which is critical for a central midfielder
It is all about performance. If we get the OBZ of the last few games we will all be happy. If not then NUTS will have a fair point.
My main reasoning is that we shouldn't rip the dressing-room apart. There is obviously a very good spirit in the camp and that is half the battle, band of brothers and all that. We should be careful not to disrupt that. Certainly some quality needs to be added to the team but we need to be careful to ensure that they are the 'right sort'.
Hopefully, injury free, OBZ will be able to contribute back to the team over the upcoming season. His scoring record with us, based on appearances, is 1 in 6, so hopefully he can bag 6 or 7 goals over a 38 match season, plus providing FA & League Cup related scoring options. Not exactly the ringing endorsement in the BBC headline announcing this:- Striker Zamora prolongs stay at QPR Striker Bobby Zamora, whose late play-off final goal earned QPR promotion to the Premier League, extends his stay with the club. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/teams/queens-park-rangers please log in to view this image Queens Park Rangers striker Bobby Zamora has signed a new one-year deal with the club. Zamora scored the last-minute winner in the Championship play-off final against Derby County in May to send QPR back to the Premier League. The 33-year-old has suffered injury problems since his move to Loftus Road from Fulham in 2012. He said: "I'm pleased to be fit again now with another chance to prove myself in the best league in the world." Zamora, whose previous clubs include Brighton, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, added: "I've had an up and down time at QPR. "I started off really well but then picked up a couple of injuries and didn't perform as well as I wanted to. "But at the end of last year, I thought whenever I was called upon to do a job, I did it well. "I still feel I've got something to prove to the fans - and I still think I've got it in me to do a great job." Zamora has scored 11 goals for QPR from 40 starts and 19 substitute appearances in all competitions.
Agreed I have always championed for balance in our transfer policy. A good mixture of youth and older more experienced players. I think Rio is a good signing in isolation but not when we already have Hill and Dunne. Where's the room for a young CB to make the odd appearance.
I think he'll be as good as useless in a playing sense. But if this helps retain our dressing room spirit, then it's a good move. It'll show the squad there's always a carrot if you do good stuff for the club. Hope it's not much more than 20k pw though..!
