Good Morning Everyone from a hot and sunny Southampton,

It seems the overwhelming view on Nile Ranger is not just 'no thanks' but more 'I wouldn't touch him with yours'!

The controvertail 23 yo striker is believed to be training with the lads at Thorp Arch, but no official word yet.

Lucas Radebe was said to be thrilled after being honoured with a life-time achievement award at the Gauteng Sports Awards on Saturday night. The ex Leeds Captain, now 45 even donated the money he recieved to charity.

Talking about Radebe, he was a real Captain. Forget about the fact he was an amazing player, he reeked charisma, charm, respect and sportsmanship.

Gaetano Berardi looks set to become our 5th signing of the summer. The 25 yo Swiss international right back plays for Sampdoria. If we are signing an international player at right back, what is going to happen to Byram.

Are we going to sell him?

Should we play him in Midfield?

We will e signing two centre backs before the season starts, if newspaper reports are true.

Where does this leave Lees, Pearce and Wooton?

Good morning Matt from yes another sunny warm Bardsey.
Why are we signing a right back because Byram has been injured quite a lot so this is a safeguard I believe .There could be other motives but its unlikely to be because we plan to sell him at the moment his price would be relatively cheap so the only other alternative is we are thinking of using him in midfield and this does not surprise me I have alkways thought the boy had the ability to be used in a more forward attacking role
Finally Pearce will not lose his place infact I think he will be made captain Wooton will be kept for a while to see how he developes again no point in selling his price would be peanuts
Still think we have enough foreigners we should be looking at young talent in this country

Berardi deal collapsed is the latest? and the 2 centre backs is because Wootton is still out injured and Byram being the only recognised right back???? so no idea what's happening with players who should be going out still, and who is going to be left?

Morning Elland, morning those joining. If Beradi is going to join us, means we can play Byram in RM. Result all round actually. Also means he and Beradi can swap as and when it suits.

On new CBs, I'll believe it when I see it. Pearce might just be our new captain. He was also our best CB of last season. On Wooten and Lees, refer to my earlier comment. Whilst I like the sound of all these new incomers, I do worry that there could be a bit of upheaval before thing settle down. Let's hope that all the newbies gel with those that are left and that we hit the ground running.

Morning Mike, is Bardsey somewhere in the Med???

Yeah, suppose we need backup with Byram.

I had great hopes for Wootton.

Elland on last seasons performance I think we need someone either challenging Byram or replacing him.

Morning Boggers, Byram likes to get forward. If we can build him up a bit, ie bulk wise, and he stays clear of injuries, it could be an exciting season both for him and us.

Got to agree with Kissa, Byram did not set the world on fire last year, if fact the games i watched him in he was very mediocre~

    Morning all
The Berardi deal hasn't collapsed its the Bellusci deal thats stalled due to high wage demands, easy to get all these Italians mixed up though. As Byram is the only recognised right back i doubt we are looking to offload him. The Hock said we were looking to have two players fighting for each position.

I think he may have just taken longer to shke off his injury than anyone thought. Let's hope that with the benefit of a decent break, he will return to the form he showed two seasons ago. Given that I think we'll be playing more footy and less hoofball, it should be right up his street. But as with Dawso, he could do with spending a bit of time in the gym to bulk up a bit.

Morning all ... Berardi will probably be the starting right back with Byram given more time to grow, after all Byram missed quite a bit of last season, but was getting stronger towards the end of the season and now he's had a good pre season so far, but I don't think he'll be rushed into games with Berardi available ... Wootton is injured, and it can't help the lad missing another pre season, he will be playing catch up yet again, but he's still young and has the talent, we just need to get him fully fit before using him, may well be loaned out if we do get more defenders in ... Nile Ranger, funnily enough, did superbly at Swindon after his Newcastle antics, and if he can settle down he has the ability to be a very explosive player, can only see him joining if there's a break clause in his contract allowing us to terminate if he steps out of line ... still feel we have a genuine lack of leaders on the field, and this is an issue, as we saw last season when heads dropped we got slaughtered and nobody seemed willing or capable of stepping up and driving the team on

Did Ranger really do well for a league 1?

Ranger joined Swindon Town of League One on a one-year deal, with the option of a second, on 16 August 2013. He was signed despite his ongoing rape case.[18] Ranger scored his first goal for Swindon on 27 August 2013 against Queens Park Rangers in the League Cup and his first league goal in the following game, on 31 August 2013 in a 5-0 home win against Crewe Alexandra.[19][20] He was a regular in the side until early November, scoring four more goals. On 14 November he failed to report to the club for training after being given a period of leave. He played one more game before again failing to turn up at the club. Manager, Mark Cooper decided Ranger would not appear until he showed "respect for the team". In December Cooper said he would offload Ranger if he failed to train and because of his disciplinary record. In January 2014 Ranger was due to meet the club concerning his future. He was recalled to the squad scoring in a 2-1 win against Peterborough United on 11 January. [21]He continued to play throughout January and early February, scoring three more goals. On 14 February 2014 he suffered a hamstring tear in a game against Colchester United. This would be his last game for Swindon.

23 apps 8 goals in League one and more baggage than Coleen Rooney takes on a weekend break to Butlins.

Morning guys from a dull cloudy north east.

Nile Ranger played up here for Newcastle (scored 2 in 50 games) in a two year period 2011 -13 he was in the news for anything but football.
A record of indiscipline is recorded on the Wikipedia pages and is worth a read.

Would certainly be an influence on the team. <doh>
