gus went in to those meetings looking to find out what funds we had and hoped to get assurances that he would have more control behind the schenes. he signed a new deal so he must have liked what he heard
Di you know what it is mate, after the euphoria of the cup final and the great escape, deep down everyone of us is a sunderland fan, and we rarely have it good, last season turned out to be one of the best but in reality, for the most part it was the same old sunderland in a dogfight and looking doomed. We finished on a high and i think with us lot its starting to sink in what is actually required after said euphoria. We are starting to get frightened that we may have to endure the same old **** again. Hope not clearly for the renewers and the returners and the newbies. The natives are becomming restless thats for sure
Maybe that's what it is, post-event euphoria now coming down to earth as the new season rapidly approaches. And yes, we're all worried about another long relegation-threatened season. As I was typing my last post it occurred to me that our PR is crap, just as you said. And, just as someone else says on the bottom of their posts, "it's the hope that kills", or summat like that.
I honestly think thats what it is mate, we are coming down to earth with a bump, some of us thinking we need a tweak here and there, some think he may or may not be good enough, at the end of the day we pulled off a miracle, of the likes never seen before and probably never again. If the season started on saturday we'd be ****ed and we all know it, but it doesnt KTF! Until blind panic sets in
True dat, we all knew were in deep **** still if we stayed up, we knew loads of players would probably walk, we knew our squad would be tiny and imbalanced, we knew half of the tiny squad were no longer needed, on high wages and tough to move on. But the drama took our mind off it and made us forget. Now the close season is on and we get another distraction with a truely great world cup, then boom! Pre season training begins our attentions turns back to business and it's grim reading looking at the squad. This hold up is making a massive job even bigger. Congerton has his work cut out but he needs to get a shift on or we're ****ed. He's already said there'll business up till deadline day which tells me we'll be starting the season short on numbers, and there's a good chance we'll miss the deadline and will be short till January. As it stands we're relegated on the imbalance alone.
It seems to me that because the Mags have signed someone, everyone starts to moan because we haven't...
I didn't know they'd signed anyone RAW. Anyway, it could be worse, we could be Blackpool, 8 players, no goalie....
Never given them a second thought mate. More worried about only having one fullback at the club and the complete lack of pace and depth.
Still a long way to go yet, but we do need movement, i just hope we havnt put all our eggs in the basket of bringing all the relegation threatened loan signing back, no step forward that surely
That's another reason I'm worried about! We seem to be happy signing last years loanees! Whilst I'd be chuffed with getting Alonso on the books, We need more and better than getting the loanees back!
aye but even last year those loan signings improved us considerably and we're short on quality even then. Shows how poor our squad is now. I'd like Alonso and Borini back but like you said we need way more than that. If we don't get them we need way more plus some more.
Thats my main concern atm also, yes gus ultimately got blood out of the stone, and lets make no mistake, after spurs away we were more like an anvil. Bring back fabio, vergini and alonso and build upon that with the bosmans we have got and then boom but if none of then came would you/i be that bothered, for me, no. Did we miss rose, nope, ki only had half a season, welbeck, nope. **** moves on
bothers me like when i see things like this on my horse punching marra's fyassbook page please log in to view this image
I'd even forgotten Jack had gone there. Like most things in life with me... after they've gone from my day-to-day existence, they're dead to me!
Alonso and Borini as permanent signings, and Wickham on a new contract would be a decent start this week!
Yes, yes and no for me. I will always appreciate his goals keeping us up last season, but I think he should be sold this window.
