There seems to be a lot of hysteria about some of the players leaving but let's have a touch of reality:-

Michu played half a season was injured did not perform well when he came back and seemed to have an attitude problem.
Canas did not improve the squad and certainly did not come up to Leon's standard.
Pozuelo only showed glimpses that he could perform at Premier level.
Pablo occasional glimpses of class, injured a lot of the time and physically too weak for the Premier.
Ki did not play for us at all last season.

So will the squad be weakened if all the above go. I say no!
At the moment it is only paper talk but players mentioned in the press would improve the squad and the ones already signed are already doing so. Losing Boney would be a big blow so lets hope this does not happen.

    This I find unbelievable........

Swansea City hopeful that Ki Sung-Yueng will stay despite interest from Aston Villa

By South Wales Evening Post | Posted: July 15, 2014

SWANSEA City remain hopeful that Ki Sung-Yueng will stay around for the long term despite interest in the midfielder from Aston Villa.

The South Korea star is due back in Wales early next week having been given extra time off because of his World Cup involvement.

And though Ki has only a year to run on his Liberty contract, Swansea believe he could yet re-commit to them.

"We want him to come back after his break and sit down with Garry (Monk) for a chat," Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins told the Evening Post. "Garry has spoken to him already, but it's important that they have another chat and we will decide on where we go after that. Ideally, we would like to tie Ki up on a long-term contract. There's no hiding from that."

Ki spent most of last season on loan at Sunderland, and there had been a feeling that Black Cats boss Gus Poyet would look to take him back north on a permanent basis. But there are now reports that Villa are favourites for Ki's signature.

And given that the 25-year-old has just a year left on his current deal, there have been suggestions he could move on for as little as £1.5 million.

Swansea are also battling to keep hold of Wilfried Bony, while Ben Davies is another of Monk's players who is attracting admiring glances from elsewhere.

Davies is on the radar for both Liverpool and Spurs, while Manchester United have also been mentioned as potential suitors.

Swansea have again been linked with Dutch international midfielder Jordy Clasie.

And Manchester United's young attacking midfielder Nick Powell is another who is thought to be on Swansea's list of possible targets.

So he is in the driving seat and can negotiate a much improved long term contract with us based on what the likes of Aston Villa and Sunderland are prepared to offer him...if he doesn't get what he wants he can push through a transfer to Villa at any point during the summer.....

....and so far he has done nothing to deserve a new long term improved contract.

FFS take the £6m and buy Powell/Clasie/Johnny Williams/De Guzman etc.

I think we will take the £6m & this is just mind games ,"we want to keep him but if you want him then pay the asking price " he brings no additional value to the squad so shift him out and bring in some one will .

I never said he would leave because of monks appointment.

What im saying is that good players dont hang around if good players leave thats true in all aspects of life and especially in football.

If we dont have quality to supply bony then he scored less goals and looks less of a player as a result harming his ambition and future . The likes of bony may take a look around the dressing room see guys from falkirk instead of from real betis, valencia or Rayo valacano and Think now is a good time to Get out .

If we dont replace top quality with top quality why should top quality hang around ?

£6m? More like £1.5m. Only a year left on his contract.

No idea. Depends whether he wants to stay or not. He's not back until next week so Monk will talk to him and make a decision. If he doesn't want to sign a new contract then it depends whether the club would prefer to get some cash now or none next year. Clubs usually prefer to sell.

Normally a reader and not a poster boy but as the last few seasons have gone on I find myself getting irritated by all the off topic tangent rants and rages and all the group insurgent haters out there !!!
    Q & A's
    1. Has HJ and the board put a foot wrong yet? In my opinion ,, No.
    2. Would HJ & the board do anything to possibly jeopardise the Club we all love? In my opinion No
    3. If a player truly wants to go ? Let him go cause we will certainly will not get the best out of him should we keep him on
    4. We are who we are get a grip of realisation Swansea City !!!! 5-6 yrs plus and more we could only dream of being in premier league just give us one season is what we were saying.

I have been a season ticket holder and attended every home game in last last 8 yrs I have been to most away games in that time and have been following swans since my dad first took me back in 79 the old vetch north bank only would he go with the old double decker to our right.

    Last seasons players..

Pozuelo .. I expected a great deal more from him but didn't fulfilled,, won't go into apparent tantrums cause don't know personally but feel if he had performed in training he would have played full 90 mins under laudrup & Monk,, Ans... He did not for both

Hernandez.. Glimpses of brilliance but outweighed by far too many times by poor touches ,,, short passes non existent,, injuries ,, not chasing back after losing ball.

Michu.. Great first season , difficult one this cause again don't know where his head or stubbornness/loyalty lies .. Personally feel we should not loan out, keep him on bench if fit then bring on as impact player , albeit we pay full wages but if on loan paying half wages and gets a la bode in Napoli then we lose everything.

Canas,,, waste of space and money for what we could have,,,, rarely has he made a tackle,,, he is no Leon replacement,,, watches players go past past.

Vorm.. What has happened here,, personally the injury he took in 1st prem season has affected him Big time ,, last season he ball watched made no attempt to save unless he could pull off a Hollywood save!! Let him go .

Ben, dipped last season maybe we expected too much out of a very young inexperienced player,, maybe we can only take his progression so far ,, judged on Luke shaw as a British young player we really should not accept less than £15 mill at the same time we cannot halter his progression as a footballer profession , if he were English we could probably get £30 mill but that's the way things are.

Ki,, does he want to play a full season or doesn't he ???? There lies the question if you read everything that's written,,,, does he have a preferred position a la attacking mid or def mid,, did ML play out of his position totally which may be why he never shone for us ???? I think GM & HJ may have a better feeling bout this as for seeing these players day in day out in training plus as AT&T mid for Celtic ,, which is why we bought him plus AT&T mid for Sunderland he was exceptional ,,, yet under ML we played him as def mid and centre half,????? No small wonder there were complications between the two ,, if I could not play a position but got put there just cause my height I would be pissed off as would be open season for any errors.

Chico,,, always going to give one very bad costly mistake each game,, having said that he wants it more than any other defender .

Ash ,, not a leader on the pitch ,, once the chips are down his are the first shoulders to drop his head drops before anyone else's and does nothing to get the team going or to fire them up,,
Total def players,,, turn there backs on forwards pressing them,, whoever has played football knows never turn you back yet our def always do letting opposition turn them or get a pass dummy .

Bony, superb would be absolutly gutted if board let him go for anything less than £30 mill after a relatively half season scoring that many goals you got to double his cost plus a third to valuation,,, bringing Michu back to this point ,, Michu clearly stated he was not and didn't want to play as main striker so we bring in Bony for Michu to play behind and Michu then had no effect what so ever in fact neither did Bony but as far as I can see that was down to Michu pushing himself up front out of formation and position for the team.

Emnes.. Gave us 9 points when we needed it most so chuffed we got our man,, bonus.,, him and Bony together worked very well,,, better than Michu and Bony ever did as Emnes stuck to position

Shelvey.. Like him a lot headstrong but we don't want cry baby's we need a fighter in the centre a playmaker,,, not forgetting the fact that most playmakers see the sprayed long wide pass the unbelievable shot out of nothing hitting the back of the net , so I for one can forgive the stray short pass cause that will come,, remember where he came from!! And still one of the youngest in the team!!! Time to learn!!

Amat,, promising not done too much wrong impulsive at first but learning.

    Bartley.. Very good future.

Rangel ,, getting on a bit needs to conserve energy realise main duties hang back

Tiendalli ,,, don't honk he's the answer ,, looked promising first season but since he came back after going AWOL never looked the same,, maybe taking us for ride ,, get rid..

    Fabianski . Will be no.1

Tremell Squad player knows and understands his place and can't fault his attitude

GM ... Was given a difficult job considering the position we were in to try keep us up.. Personally I feel done well got the team that was picked justly playing well. We stayed up!!! On to next season,,, "Remember no-one wanted Martinez as manager when he came in" !!!!

ML completely lost interest and apparently as history goes has done elsewhere after 1st season,,, most people are looking at name ML and the player he was rather than the manager he is and how he manages over time with club,,, some people just can't get passed it!!
No emotion from the guy,, players looking to him and he was just sat there blank!!! No motivation!!

If there is to be a Spanish exodus of 3/4 players as we are led to believe then so be it!!! Apart from 1player in 1season not much to be concerned about,

It is silly season,, last summer Michu was supposed to be leaving for arsenal Liverpool Chelsea ,,, Italy ,, Russia back to Spain etc all bullshit paper talk.

Ash allways going somewhere but signed another new contract

As if the board would let ki go for £1.5 mill who wrote that gem of a story!!

HJ poker face playing hard ball with levy at spurs,,

You are all supposed to be Swansea City supporters not haters get behind the board that saved our beloved club and will always do things in best interest and not behind a big Name Charlie!! However you may think little ambition or not spending enough etc that road leads to Scumdiff with a mountain of debt,, we are a small club with limited revenue coming into the the club & our board realise that but some people cannot see the bigger picture!!

P.S. Apologies for the rant but also please please please can we stay on topic this is about players moving staying and performance in one hit ,, but getting fed up of starting to read threads then having to see them derail!!!

    Cheers all
Here's to next season cannot wait!!!

Nobody would object to anyone setting out their opinion on players and many would agree with what's been said, but 'insurgent haters' is well off the mark as a way to descibe those who don't toe the party line here. Most on this forum may have not wanted Monk at the helm, me included, but I don't hate him - I hope he is a success and proves us wrong.

Do we have to harp on about the past. Yes it happened, but evey time there is any sort of criticism people go back to look at what they did for the club. Yes they did and yes I thank them for it, but this is now and that was then. We are a PL club by right, we have the as much right to be there as anyone else.We need to act like a big club not little old swansea. i f we continue to think small we will be small and clubs will continue to take advantage of us in terms of transfer dealings. So it's not about being big time charlies and spend spend spend but behaving like we belong there.

    1) In my opinion yes, however, that does not deter from the fact they have done some fantastic stuff for the club, of which I will always be grateful. But like they are open to praise, they should be open to criticism too. And if you need further proof of them putting a foot wrong, see the debacle that was the Ki loan deal cut off date. Very professional. The day the board believe they can get away with anything, is the day you can kiss this great club of ours goodbye, until then, I will treat them as I do every other person, with respect, but if they put a foot wrong, they need to be held accountable, just like they get held accountable for all the good they do too.

    2) In my opinion, they have, when they let personal feuds get in the way, as seemed to be the case with both Sousa and Laudrup. What chairman doesn't speak to his manager for months? (am sure that was reported somewhere) that's personal, that's not professional. And rightly so, they should get criticism for it.

    3) No, the player is contracted, the day you give in to players, is the day your condoning player power. After all, if a player refuses to play, or refuses to put any effort into playing, you just refuse to pay. They are still contracted to the club, play hard ball, they will back down before the club will, as it will ruin their career by being stubborn. But tough titties. Should have thought of that before signing on the dotted line for the silly amounts of money they agreed to be paid.

    4) We are who we are, a Premier League club, we are no longer a div 1/2 club, so yes, please do get some realisation, we are here, we are premier league, lets remember that, and not pretend we are still some second rate club lucky to be here. We deserve to be here, never forget that.

And if we all had that silly mentality, we would not be where we are now, because it was through fans speaking their minds that got Petty ousted, so try not to forget that either next time you want to bury your head and believe we should leave the board do everything without reproach.

Sorry, I am all for people having rants, but blimey. I don't know, these insurgent love in folk really do irritate. *tongue in cheek comment*
