The problem now with the Championship is the fee Leeds got for McCormack, it has set the tone for goal scorers in the second tier. Deeney £10m, Ulloa £6m (I think that was blockheads last bid), Rhodes £xxm Bendtner available on a free (he'll want a hefty salary too) but at least you don't have hefty transfer fee + hefty salary.
The MLS is jacking up the price as well at least on the salary end for proven european goal scorers. Dafoe is making 150k a week for instance. Bendtner could come to the MLS and probably make over 100k a week.
I think Bendtner has already stated his preference is the Premier League. Where is all the money in the MLS coming from? New York City will have Lampard and Villa next season - they'll have cost a tidy sum (though I know they are owned or part owned by the Manchester City owners, so not short of a bob or two.
SSN now saying that both Maguire and Robertson look destined to join Hull City. Maguire should happen first. We have Long - Jelavic - Sagbo - Aluko and Boyd can play up top. Plus dont forget SB still has 2 loans up his sleeve for august at some point. Who can blame Dawson.? I dont. Spurs want him out and therefore they should pay him up. A contract works both ways - Levy.!! Let the MLS have him imo. He is trouble and trouble is one thing we dont need. No more Bullard types.
Maguire and robertson are both great, young, forward thinking additions to the squad. I have a feeling we won't see Brucey using his lone spots unless they're for short loans. He might keep them as back up options for january if something goes tits up. Wonder if we'll see a more experienced centre half come in as well, a back up striker or maybe another mid? Also anyone have any news about any departures?
There was a fan from Turkey I think that claimed his club were signing Sagbo, not heard anything since though.
The loan market may well be for another striker IF one does come in. Why would anyone else leave as SB needs a big squad. Dudgeon maybe who goes out on a short term loan mind to get match fit.
I wonder if anyone saw this?... "A host of clubs are showing an interest in former Arsenal, West Brom and Hull City star Jay Simpson, who has returned to Britain following a spell in Thailand. The 25-year-old joined Buriram United last year on a two-year deal, but he has now agreed a mutual termination of his contract. Simpson is now back in England, getting fit and is already talking with a number of clubs with interest from the Premier League and Championship." Can't see Premier League club's being interested in him to be honest.
From Buckingham - @PJBuckingham: #hcafc very much in for Maguire at Sheff Utd. Expecting more in the coming days. Gather there's still work to be done on any fee.
Saw that, which is sad for Jay. But worse, you couldn't make it up.......................TWS are offering an olive branch to Nile Ranger. The perfect match you might have thought. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...eds-united-to-look-at-nile-ranger-in-training
If we sign; Robertson, MaGuire and another central midfielder then I would expect we would make a loan move for a central midfielder and a striker, with a possible clause in place that gives us first refusal to sign them in January either on permanent or to extend the loan. I think we have competition for striker just not enough quality competition. Just some possible names plucked from obscurity. - Nick Powell - Thomas Carroll - João Carlos Teixeira - Joel Campbell - Ryan Bertrand - Yaya Sanogo - Victor Moses - Jack Rodwell Although many probably out of our league. Heres hoping they resist the temptation of Bendtner.
Bendtner on a free would be excellent business. He's 26 years old so he'd be FREE, not like Tom Ince free.. When he played a full season (well, 28 games..) under Bruce at Sunderland, he scored 8 goals. That very same season Shane Long also scored 8 goals but in 32 games. The season after that, Jelavic scored 7 goals in 37 games for Everton.. Throughout his career, his stats are no worse, and in some instances actually better than the strikers we have. Obviously there's his ego to consider and his off-the-field activity... but who better than Bruce to keep him grounded and get the best out of him? He'd be an EXCELLENT signing!
Its not to complicated really, our sports owners are billionaires. The ones that arent billionaires are owned by a group of people in which they are then billionaires. Like I have said previously if the MLS players begin to earn what athletes in our other sports earn you will end up seeing salaries in the MLS approaching 600K a week. This is why I think it is just a matter of time before the MLS ends up being one of the premier football leagues in the world. The amount of money that will be tossed around in 10 years or so by the MLS will draw in some of the worlds best players.
Based on what? Genuine question. Everyone says he's an arse, but nobody I know can tell me what that is based on.
I think this season he pissed off Arsenal because he flew home after practice got drunk and then got in a fight with a taxi driver. He never told the club he was flying home after practice.
