Having lost Ki, Borini and Alonso. We are now considerably weaker than the shower of **** we struggled with last season. Concerned much!
We've signed that Billy Jones from West Brom as a right back. Can't say I know much about him to be honest though. As it stands we have a couple of youth players as only left backs at the club.
The infamous left back problem raises it's ugly head yet again. Suppose it will be another loan player, again.
I'm concerned that we might fail in getting our main targets and then having to settle for players that we didnt really want! This having to rebuild (again) might see a repeat of last season, getting a load of foreigners who neebodies heard of! Other clubs will be aware of our desperation for players, and the tv cash on the hip, so I worry that we may pay over the odds for pretty average players! If we don't get Borini and Alonso then **** knows who we will get! I just hope we have a rip snorting plan B!!!!
The deals are just taking time, hopefully one or two will be through by the end of the week to cheer us all up!
Without stating the obvious, this is what happens when you leave survival until the last minute. Your transfer business is all being done later than those who were safe before you, they've had more time to plan. Plus you's had about 10 contracts expiring, I wouldn't start to worry about not signing anybody, the only negative you can take right now is that pre-season's not far off and ideally you'd want to have the squad more or less in place before you go wherever it is you're going. Poyet will be put under the microscope if you don't go into the next season prepared, as he was in Brazil ****ing about on tele, but I'm sure he'll have it under control.
We had a thread a few weeks ago which asked if anyone was bothered, or worried about the lack of signings/activity at the club. At the time I wasn't bothered at all, early days I said. That's now changed to "just ever-so slightly irritated". Other teams are getting their signings in early-on, meaning the newby's get involved in training that much earlier. That has to be a progressive working-model for any club. I know it's still relatively early, but I would like to see some progress, if only to know things are happening. I know SAFC prefer to keep things on the low and press speculation muted as this can affects player values, negotiations, etc. I would also say that in the past we haven't had the best negotiation team in the business so I'm not that impressed with how things have worked in the past, so some evidence of activity in the market-place, beyond mere press speculation, would be appreciated.
My concern is that the teams around us, Villa, West Ham, Toon, all making the moves, our position is weakening daily. Looks like despite another change of DOF, we are still ****e at getting things done. It's incredibly frustrating.
Just slightly concerned at the mo! I think if nowt happens by next weekend then I think I will go into a blind panic!
--------------Mannone-------------- Jones---Brown-----O'Shea----Youth player --------Catts------Larsson------------- -------------Gomez----------------- Johnno------Wickham---------Giacch Scary. To be fair I'm relatively happy with our front 3, Catts I think will have a big season and finally prove all his doubters wrong, and we all know Vito is a hero. As for the rest... O'Shea and Brown sure as hell won't last the entire season (and O'Shea isn't all that regardless), RB we have an ex-West Brom bench warmer and LB is clearly really dire, although I'm fairly confident we'll get Alonso in within the next couple of weeks. Larrson and Gomez, while decent players, I wouldn't be too chuffed if either are in our starting 11 come the start of the season. Lots of work to be done...
Nice front 3, but the midfield would get ripped apart, we need to act quickly now, we aren't even being linked with anyone of any calibre right now.
32 days man, **** sake. I'm sure we'll get it done like, but we need a breakthrough soon, either Borini or Alonso should have been done quickly and efficiently. We are **** at this transfers game.
