Tbf, there is nothing new there, he has been facing competition from us for months when we approached in January and At has been stalling for some reason. I would not like to be on what happens. At this rate he could be playing on the monn in a months time!

Forget Andrew Johnson - he's out of our league now. We never realistically stood a chance of getting him permanently.

Ironically enough, the half-season he had with us put him way out of our salary range.

Let's concentrate on players we can aim for (and don't give me any Calum Davenport nonsense - are people really that dim?)

I never felt we were in with a realistic chance of signing Taylor, even if Malky stayed.

If Malky can convince him that he's going to start (he will: just look at their current left back), then Cardiff is a done deal.

Isn't his GF London based though? You never know what might be available to sweeten the deal (esp. if instead of Wiggins who would probably command a £500k fee)

Its time to cross both Taylor and Wiggins off the list. Dyche needs to go for the 3rd choice option - the man with no name!!!

The man with no name is me remembering Watford's new austerity policy :

Any players we sign will be players we haven't heard of, that is what was said repeatedly in the Spring when Malky was manager. Our best chance of signing Taylor was by paying money for him in January. Boro ignored us, then they saw how good he really was. Now we can't afford his wages.

Wiggins is attracting "big money" in an auction, so we have to look elsewhere. Dyche has a little money to spend on several players, he will have to join the Pre Season Training scramble, where players are eager to get a contract and its a game of chicken. This will be a steep learning curve as there are so many clubs looking for "bargains" at our level.

I think this will be more a test of Wilson than Dyche or maybe realistaclly the pair. Its a matter on convincing potential signatures that we are the place to come for a good season or two of enjoyable football with excellent improvement record and our pedigree is second to none in this area. The lads also need convincing that it wasnt dependent on Malky or John S but is the system Stephenson put in place which we are now pushing to the next stage. I do actually believe this and strongly believe that Dyche and Wilson will be able to push us forward. Signings are under no ilusion that they'll be at Watford forever, if they're good enough they'll move on to the prem, if they're old enough and have the right aptitude we're the best place for them to move into coaching/management, if they're good championship quality they'll get played regularly to improve themselves and if they're lazy SOTBs they'll see the door.

Choice between two players? Not as far as I can see, sadly. Taylor will choose between Cardiff and Middlesbrough and I simply don't know about Wiggins. What is it they say about beggars and choosers again...

You are probably right. We will then be relegated, and next season go into administration; having been docked 20 points and been relegated to League 2 for season 2013-14, our first game will be a home game against newly promoted Luton Town who will spank us 0-5. We will then discover, that having paid off Ashcroft and Co by flogging all of our saleable players, Baz will deliver the coup de grace by announcing that the ground has been sold to the Russos for trialling genetically engineered cucumbers, and that we will be ground sharing at Kenilworth Road.

    Or maybe we'll be ok?............

    chin up.

Had a bid of 325k for Martin Cranie (Coventry left back) rejected according to another forum (WFC FORUMS)

No source as to where they got that from.

We'll probably offer Andrew Taylor £50k a week, funded by the billions that Bassini has amassed but kept well hidden from us mere mortals, re-sign three of Danny Graham, Tommy Smith, Ashley Young and Adam Johnson, re-build the stadium, go up, stay up, challenge for Europe, get into the Champions League, and use the resulting windfall to sign Jose Mourinho, when Sean Dyche is snapped up by England?

Or maybe we should continue to be happy holding our own in the middle of the Championship, occasionally challenging for the top six, occasionally sweating about the bottom three. I'd take that right now, because while you were clearly being sarcastic, your scenario seems slighly closer to the likely outcome than my one.
