It was a very odd tournament for refs. Most games teams were literally kicking the **** out of each other and no cards were being shown. Some of the fouls should have been straight reds and a foul wasn't even given. Weird. The must have had a meeting before the tournament and said let the games flow and keep your cards and your whistles in your pocket Persoanlly I quite like the way it was refereed - reminded me of old school refs back in the 80's.
Ah man up... Neuer did well, you'd all be moaning if he left his knee down for high in to break his ribs Keepers must get the knee up to protect themselves
It's odd because some games players started taking liberties with the fouls and weren't getting booked so they just carried on and carried on and ended up making worse tackles which finally got a yellow but by then it was too late. Prime example is Brazil v Colombia. Brazil commited so many fouls and some bad ones as well but none were booked so then Colombian player goes in a little bit harder than normally would and injured Neymar. Some would say Karma, but no doubt the lack of bookings had a big effect on that game.
So outfield players must jump with elbows to protect themselves and tackles must go in studs up to protect themselves? If you can't win the ball cleanly even with the advantage of using your hands it is dangerous play. End of.
I'd have raised my knee too, I wouldn't want some island stealing Argie headbutting me in the plumbs.
