No excuses there for CH, just didnt find anything and didnt pick up. I was a bit sceptical of the hard luck story at the Derby.

Carlton House has no acceleration - he stays well enough but can't quicken. If he goes over 12F again he'd need to be up with the pace. Moore tried to bring him from off the pace but he lacked the acceleration of the first 3. Dropping him to 10F probably won't bear fruit as he won't have the speed. Maybe they should try the St Leger?

CH finished closer at Epsom than today with a clear passage. O'Briens horse improving seemingly. I guess the 'Street Cry don't produce one and a half milers' stat seems strong.

Tenuous form boost for Pirateer in the listed event later on via a pedantic evaluation of the Listowel nursery form last September....

Great ride by Colm O'D to be fair....Beefy you may not be far wrong re tactics with the three, admittedly best three,B'doyle colts in a line turning in meaning one was assured first run and CH forced wide or made to sit and suffer...all legit and very clever tbh...the relatively slow pace fooled everyone...well done AO'B..

interesting you say seville fror the triumph i think if it weren't for fame he would be campaigned as their cup horse he needs a trip and the st ledger has to be the aim now

Famous, surely they have to aim all three at the St Leger? Treasure Beach looks the best stayer of the three to me but all would surely run well in that race? They are not at the level of a Workforce and Rewilding in my opinion so they have to stay in their generations races.

Dexter I agree. It was no coincidence the three of them rounding the bend like that...I can console myself in the knowledge though that any tactics didn't matter a jot, Carlton House beat fair and square and seems simply short of being top class IMO. O'Brien has some riches with his middle distance horses

This years 3-y-o crop, save the Derby winner, are moderate and not up to the older brigade....Rewilding was a fortunate winner at RA and imo not in the same class as WF et al...

i agree nass i think they will prob run all 3 but also the isrish leger is now a all age race so it will be interesting to see what older horses turn up

for me the race is set up for seville a trip and soft ground most likely which if you look through his breeding he will love
