Where are they? Just been trying to find some books detailing our history and all I can find, that's already released, is one called Now Tigers, which rather than a history book as such just looks like a load of newspaper articles, photos etc. from the clubs earliest years. Not really what I'm looking for and looks **** anyway, specially at a rip off £17.99, has anyone read it to recommend, or rubbish? There's another one that's not released til October called Hull City FC History. I worry about this book, as the title calls us Hull City FC (what happened to the 'A') and the description says we're 108 years old. 2 basic errors like that in your face before you've even looked at the price are not a good advert, so I doubt I'll be buying that one either once it's out. Anyone know of any others? I can't find any at all.
maybe he delayed the book once it look like we would reach the Prem , and had already submitted a description to Amazon - dunno just a guess
Careful, you'll get into trouble with our mods. No names, no pack drill on here fellas. Stop trying to out the author. The history thread is probably the best source of actual history too.
What're you on about? Re the history thread, I did wonder the same myself, but it's chock full of people's memories of particular games etc. which isn't really what I'm looking for. I was hoping to find something that gives a brief overview of the clubs entire history.
Now Tigers is an excellent read, well researched, and factual. It covers the clubs history from formation throughout the Anlaby Road days. History the club should be proud and aware of but for some obscure reason we seem to have factions who want to erase the history of Hull City when it should be preserved at all costs.
At least some of our history is documented now, that's the real issue. Your opening sentence says it all, well researched. Should it really have to be researched? 110 years isn't all that long in history, why has no one ever recorded it? It seems the clubs history only lives on in the memories of those there to witness it and those who have been told the stories. It all needs documenting before it's forgotten. I might buy it if it ever comes down to a reasonable price.
All our history is documented, you just need to know where to look. You seem critical of Now Tigers which collects our first 10 years of history together in one volume at £17.99, if you want a complete history to this fine benchmark you would need 11 volumes at £197.89 but of course you are too lazy to do your own research, too tight to buy someone elses and expect the whole 110 years condensed down to a brief overview at under £5 to suit your limited intellect and purse.
Bit of a s**t post really that. All our history is documented? Well I can't find it. Need to know where to look? What do you think this bleeding thread was about? Critical of a book I've never read? Yeah, because that makes sense. Sceptical would be the right word, sceptical upon reading the description that it just looked like a scrapbook style book focusing more on looking into the people themselves and their lives and personalities etc. rather than a history book. Where did I say I wanted a complete history book to "this fine benchmark"? I said I was hoping on finding something that went over the whole history of the club, not something that went into great detail over a 10 year period. Too lazy to do my own research? I don't want to write a f**ing book myself you great oaf. Too tight to buy someone else's? When I'm asking about a good book to BUY you f**ing imbecile. And I want to buy for under £5? Please point to me where I said that? More like I don't want to spend and extortionate £17.99 on a 2 year old book that's not even what I'm looking for. Very different. So here's a little note to your good self, why don't you go and bend over in front of a mirror and shove your tight purse and limited intellect as far up your f**ing arse as it'll go? Seriously, who carries a f**ing purse anyway? Also, I've changed my mind about the author. Judging by the offence you seem to have taken and your pissy pants defensive over reaction, you are evidently the author, you precious purse wielding big girls blouse.
Well done hatter, you have managed to write quite a lot of words for someone without the attention span to read a proper history book.
I'll take it that if anyone feels inclined to post any personal details about Mr Hat or Mr happy, there'll be no whinging or whining at all. It's like a nursery on here at times.
Well that was a good guess wasn't it! It wasn't even a serious suggestion either If anything Dutch, you've just posted his details, as you removing my post has confirmed to me and anyone else that saw it who the author is.
Sorry I have to agree with Mr Hat - by removing one name suggested for the author but not the other...
As I've deleted several 'guesses' in your silly game, all it proves is that you're a bit of a tit that would squeal like a stuck pig if someone was doing it to you.
Nope, there's several names deleted. There's a few more gone since you posted too. What a childish game.
Yes since I posted. And I'm not into the silly game of naming whoever as whoever, before you try and put me with the alternative chuckle brothers gang.
Sorry for multiple posts - looking on amazon for Hull City books, does anyone know if A Century of Hull City 1904-2004 is any good and (yes I know the title), but will it be updated in a few years to take us beyond 2004
