Pundits haven't really been discussing this subject a great deal to be fair - I expect them to jump onto it tonight once the champions have been crowned.
As it said in my first post, he was brilliant in the SF, but before that game he was barely worth a mention, did his job nothing more. I don't see how anyone who's watched the entire tournament could come up with him as the best player in it, hence my sarcy comment P.s 2 girls one Allen - stop commenting on my posts, given then you've got me on ignore lad, poisonous little balloon
Top 5: James Rodriguez Arjen Robben Lionel Messi Neymar Toni Kroos I think Toni Kroos might deserve it if Germany win the whole thing.
After the Final - I still stick with Masherano. A coupe of silly errors but overall, another beast of a game from him.
I think in fairness the way the World Cup went in the end putting either neuer or mascherano or babas or oocha would be fair Wc ended up way to defensive and negative for me, once the knockouts started it was a penalty shoutout/ extra time affair with only barazs utter ineptitude at last 4 level offering a contrast
The guys that normally/have got the plaudits are James Rodriguez, Muller, Robben, Neuer.. But I thought Vlar for the Dutch has been great, Lahm superb, Schwinstiger fantastic. A couple of the Costa Rican's were great too... (my team of the tourny) and Columbia not far behind, had the Ref stopped the cheating Brazilians from kicking lumps out of Ham-ezz (and the rest of his team mates) we'd have seen a bloody good Semi against the Germans!
Schweinsteiger was ****ing superb. His name is always mentioned around the top players anyway, but he is absolutely brilliant in that defensive role and yet still manages to pop up in the final third or on the flanks from time to time.
Apparently Bale was awarded the FIFA Golden Ball but the presenter realised he wasn't actually at the World Cup so he just said Messi as the first name that came in his head #marketing
