Ki is currently in negotiations with Villa regarding a permanent move to the Birmingham club, if reports are to be believed. Ki's betting odds have also shortened that he will leave be leaving the club.
Don't understand that one. Thought Monk was keen on him? Personally, as long as we get a good price I'm not bothered with that one....would rather Nick Powell / Siggy / Johnny Williams
Good... hope we get close to what we payed for him.. all the best ... dont let the door hit you ......
Looks like a partial rebuilt if the "rumours" are to be believed ,.I'm sure all this movement has been planned for and replacements have been looked at, we've still got the core players and still plenty of time to replace as long as we're not beaten to any of our targets which can always happen .Interesting times (again) , Someone wake me up just before KO, it makes life so much easier
Shame imo but pointless moaning over it. Ki is a decent player and good luck to him - let's hope he find a team that regularly plays him in position.
I'm seriously worried about this coming season. We could end up having our weakest team since we got into the PL.
Swansea City again linked with Jordy Clasie - as Aston Villa eye up Ki Sung-Yueng By South Wales Evening Post | Posted: July 14, 2014 By Gareth Vincent / [email protected] / @Gareth_Vincent "SWANSEA City are again being linked with Jordy Clasie - while Ki Sung-Yueng has emerged as a potential target for Aston Villa. Dutch international Clasie, who featured at the World Cup, has been compared to Spain great Xavi Hernandez having come through the ranks at Feyenoord. Swansea were originally touted as admirers of Clasie back in May, and there are now fresh suggestions that Garry Monk is keen to bring the 23-year-old midfielder to the Liberty. Ki, meanwhile, is said to be on Villa boss Paul Lambert's wanted list. The South Korean international is due back in Wales next week having spent the majority of last term on loan at Sunderland. Swansea have indicated they want Ki on board next season, but much will depend on the player's wishes. Ki has just a year to run on his contract in SA1, so Swansea could be forced into selling if they want to recoup any of the £5.5 million they paid for the former Celtic star back in 2012."
If I remember rightly Monk's line on Ki was to big him up, make him feel valued and dangle a new contract in the offing if Ki knuckled down this summer and the first couple of months of the season........turns out Ki doesn't want to knuckle down, at least not with us. That's the way I see it anyway. Nice, tidy player but I would bet he hasn't got it in him to make a big splash in the Prem. He hasn't got the heart. It's good riddance from me.
So far the list of potential players out the door . Ben davies Canas Poz Michu Pablo Ki Vorm Bony If that happens then i agree we Will struggle badly. Its been suggested monk has no problem attracting players, well he sure does seem to have a problem keeping them here. The fallout continues but i like to Think its all part of the master plan. Maybe gary feels that the likes of michu, pablo, canas, poz, ben ,ki and bony Are not needed and that he Will only want players that want to play for us like folton and the other scottish lad ? Its all bit of a mess but in fairness it is silly season so we have no clue what is true and what isnt. Its not great to be an inexperienced manager and have to build a new team though, some of the best in the game struggle with that one. What Are garrys man management skills like ? So far ive only seen his best mate ash and barker speak highly of him. When Wilfrom was Asked about monk taking the job he said "why not, anything is possible" hardly glowing . Early days yet, i know the board and garry said they want to conduct buisness early but we wont start getting players in until the bigger fish have decided who they want first, we Will be 3 rd choice for many but the more talent that leaves the more the swans Will look like a club to avoid.
Can we attract the palyers we actually want to replace those going or will it be as Norway says one to avoid as they are losing their best players. Is the club a big emough draw along with the PL, because i am not convince our manager is. GM best you start knuckling down and sort out those transfers early like you said you would.
So if Ki is not the "knuckling" down type and won't do it for Monk, then perhaps Laudrup was right to ship him out especially when he was on a guaranteed number of games.
We have a disintegrating squad, being led by an inexpierenced manager, being led around by an overbearing chairman, wirh new players being nervous to come to the team . On a personal note , hope it was worth sacking Laudrup Mr. Jenkins , all of this can be traced to your vendetta against Laudrup and anyone affiliated with him .
Ben davies - we've got Taylor Canas/Poz - looks like their on way out so will need to be replaced Michu -didn't play in second half of season and we survived without him Pablo - personal issues, so will need to be replaced Ki - didn't play for us in majority of last season Vorm - Fabianski Bony - coming back to Swansea (apparantly) but we have signed Gomis Montero - done deal, and there's still time for some more signings! It ain't that bad guys! NB: I wanted laudrup to stay and didn't believe he should have been sacked. But he was sacked and been paid his dues. It's a new season for f***s sake.
If Bony, Vorm and Ben go it's because they are going to bigger clubs. However as of yet nobody has gone. Some are ranting about Poz and Canas yet nobody seems to have come in for them or be linked with them. We've signed Gomis, Fabianski and Montero seems a done deal so yes Monk can attract players.
PGF, I dont believe it is GM V ML thing, you are right it is a new season but, I have to be honest, with what we look like losing, the way it looks at the moment, we will have a weaker squad this year than last. Now I agree all that could change over a few days or weeks. We could keep Bony ( who I believe is the most important player to keep), but my big concern is the club being able to attract the quality of player to improve the squad. There are plenty of players who would be more than happy to sign for us, but will they be better or as good as what we lose and at the moment I am not convinced we have the right structure at the top to do this. By the way you forgot JDG off your list. Valley come on you know that Gomis only signed because we were the highest bidders, Fabianski on a free ( have to be honest he may well have chosen us over other clubs) and Emnes from the championship. Thats not what I call attracting players. Mind you there is still a way to go and we may well end up with a few top notch signings.
