I thought Janmaat looked really good last night. not as good technically as Debuchy but more explosive and better positionally/defensively. Let's hope we get him.

According to De Telegraaf we have had a bid of around £5million accepted and Janmaat is expected to sign a 6 year contract imminently. This is turning out to be an exciting transfer window!

Janmaat set to sign six-year deal with Newcastle

Feyenoord right-back Daryl Janmaat is set to put pen to paper on a six-year deal with Newcastle after a £5 million fee was reportedly agreed.

De Telegraaf claimed this morning that the Netherlands defender was ‘close’ to agreeing terms after a bid in the region of £5 million was reportedly accepted by Feyenoord.

If this bloke signs imo he will be a great signing. I never was a Debuchy fan - he never looked full of passion. But this lad has looked top class every time he has been used, and like Krul, he's been under used by Van Gaal.

The best thing about this, if it's all true, is we have clung grimly on to Debuchy until we know, for certain, we have a replacement. It's a massive turnaround for the management team.

That's true. The whole transfer window is strangely hope inducing. It's a weird feeling where NUFC are concerned.

Apparently Janmaat is having his medical today and may be announced as an NUFC player this evening.

I totally agree with this. If a player is a starter we need to continue this. Players like mapou and hatem leaving well they didn't play much of a role anyway so no difference if they're here or not

If Mbiwa leaves we're left with Colo (getting old), Taylor (injury & error prone) and Williamson (average) as our only senior CBs, so he'd need replacing. CB is probably the position where experience has the most importance so relying on our better young CBs to play too large a role would probably not be the best idea.

Janmaat's agent has suggested terms are agreed and the right-back is just a medical away from joining #nufc

Wow so less than half the debuchy money. We are wheeling and dealing now. As long as we keep adding quality I don't really care lol.

I'm over the moon at the business we are doing.
It's very unlike us but I'm not complaining one bit. Thought we'd sign a load of nobodies but I was wrong and I aint shy to admit that.
I'm really starting to look forward to next season now... big time.
It's a long time since I felt this positive and I want it to continue...

Not keen on this delay over Janmaat. Hope he's just knackered and not having second thoughts. I want him to sign ASAP.

Very pleased with the transfers so far, especially this one if it happens. He looked really good in the World Cup.

Rumours going around that he's ill. Could be jet-lagged or something

Good signings, I'm reckon another two or three will arrive too. Especially need some attacking threat so new cf is a must... Reasonable prices, good aged players.

This is a steal for janmaat, I don't think well see much of a difference between him and debuchy. I agree the delay is worrying after remembering the remy fiasco, but apparently this guy is keen on a move here. I'm just hoping one good striker. (Chicharito available for 10million!!!)

He's jetlagged apparently. That is the reason for the delay. He's signing for us.

Let's just get the medical staff to run around with their arms out pretending to be planes. After a couple of hours or so of that, everyone's in the same boat and we can get it done!
