No point getting someone as backup for Fonte (and I was really impressed with him last season), we want competition for places throughout the squad and you don't do that by buying backup. That's like treading water, and you can't do that in this league, you'll end up going backwards (or sinking, to continue the metaphor).

 

I think Lovren has been brought to heel to save embarrassment to Southampton, but may well be sold. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the deal struck with him.

 

Might not mean anything, but he had his giant headphones round his neck in the photo shown by the club whilst all the other players didn't. Gives the impression of someone more aloof

 

Looked that way in the first half of the season but I have my doubts. Fonte was carrying Lovren when he came back in the second half of the season. Anyway rather than us watching things what do the stats say Who got most points in the Sun's fantasy football. lol

I would not be upset with Danny Rose, why would Spurs deal with us if we're not selling to them?

Guan 2.0 says that one of Koeman's targets for this window is Stefan De Vrij.

I was told the same (told dan the other night I think). I don't think it can happen tho unless Koeman has got massive pulling power. Bigger teams are after him.

 

It makes sense for us to be after him, but it would be one hell of a signing.

 

Forum chat told me, I read it that the Board would not let MoPo pull our team apart.

 

Unless he sounded him out before he took the job it seems fanciful. Hope they've made some enquiries for some alternative targets.

Someone on saintsweb said he has a contact at Spurs who said we wouldn't deal with them. Don't know if it's actually true.

i bet that joke gets funnier the more you hear it.

 

If Van Gaal wants De Vrij, and Feyenoord are prepared to sell, he will go to United. I just hope Ronald has a good relationship with the lad and can persuade him to come here.
