I don't know about you guys but he is my most loved goalkeeper for ages and I don't think Cesar would have had the heart, spirit or detirminarion to make some of the saves Green made last season.

He is THE right sort. He's the man standing behind our team, between the goal posts, so let's stand behind him. Come on you Rs!!!!

Good post. Playing for the last 25 min of our playoff final with a dislocated finger, yep he is now 100% QPR in my eyes!

He's not the best goalkeeper in the world but he's developed an affinity with the fans (except Flyer) is the 'right sort' and comes across as a likeable bloke who is a good influence behind the scenes. That'll do for me.

Obviously it helps that he is a good goalkeeper, regardless of what some say.

This for me too. I always have a feeling he's going to drop a clanger, but on the whole, he's plenty good enough imo.

Only because no-one else wanted him.....

If i told you Nines that the Fire Service really wanted you to continue your work but with a section in Outer London and you have to take a 20% wage cut. Would you happily take it or stay where you are....?

    Thought so ! <ok>

Some people just cant see it !

It's incomparable Queens. I get £500 quid a week for doing what I do, Green gets £50,000 a week for what he does. Good luck to him. I know who I'd rather stare at in the mirror in the morning.

Sorry mate, i dont agree with that. i admire greatly what you do and a lot of my relatives are in the service. the only reason i didnt become a fireman was that i was concentrating on "other ****"

you should be proud of what you do and unbderstand many of us (the public) do really appreciate what you guys (and girls) do. typically the public dont like the services eg army, plod, etc but you are one of the exceptions that has the publics FULL support (or at least i think so)

With regards to green, he'll be unemployed by the age of 40 (as will Cesar) and has a top level career of about 15 years. they have to earn as much as they can in this time before retiring and running a pub.
Work out your wage over your working lifetime and compare it to green over 10 or so years.?

again, I cant fault Cesar for staying put. NOBODY on this forum would willingly take a pay cut to work for a lesser employer.

i defy anybody to HONESTLY say they would...?

    Takers ?

I think your argument held some water some years ago Queens, and still does for lower league footballers. But not for a player even earning £15k a week on average for 5 years of their career. That equates to over £2.3m, or 23 years worth of working for someone on a meagre £100k a year (the UK average salary is £26.5k, so make that 100 years of work for Joe Normal). If Green has earned £50k a week for the last 3 years (let's ignore the previous at least 6 or 7 seasons of five figures per week) he has earned £7.8m, or 78 years worth of £100k a year (over 300 years for Joe Normal)......he does not need to run a pub and could quite easily move elsewhere on considerably less money, or even just stop - if he has looked after his wedge he never needs to work again. Did you do the maths before urging us to?

Of course there is the risk of a career threatening injury which could have reduced their earning potential hugely had it happened early in their career. Nines only faces the threat not only of a career threatening injury but a life threatening one every time he goes to work. You haven't spent much time here over the last few years by the sound of it, but respect for the armed forces is at an all time high from my perspective, and any grief the police are getting is easily explainable by what a few of them have done - Hillsborough, Lawrence, trying to fit up bike riding politicians etc etc

I don't blame them, it's not their fault that at the top level the economics of this game are cretinous, and we as a society seem to value the ability to kick a ball higher than a multitude of other things. I like Cesar (though every time I see him play he looks less of a good keeper to me) but he has been in the same boat twice - with us and Inter - not playing because he has negotiated a contract the club can't afford to pay. Again not his fault, but he does not need the money and has just shown that even at this stage of his career $ is more important to him than playing. Fair enough, it's his call and both clubs should not have got themselves in that position.

Most of us cannot afford to take pay cuts, these blokes can, and still be fabulously rich by normal standards. I think your comparisons aren't really fair.

fair enough stan, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. i suppose if you've lived life at a certain (elevated) standard, any less is an issue.

No i didnt do the maths before posting but i still think that CESAR should have stayed nd doesnt deserve the crap he's getting because he wouldnt take a pay cut.

Your facts are correct of course, but that doesnt take away the fact that Cesar is a better keeper and should be eaning what he is.
i take nothing away from green and he was fantastic for us last season and should be our no.1 on merit.

as for the rest, we probably mix in very diffrent circles and i was home for the final remember? Nothing had changed with regards to respect for the authorities that i could see, but like i say, diffrent circles.

just on a personal note Stan, its good to see/read you back on top of your game. been missing ya!
    A credit to this board.
    long may it continue <ok>

You are way off beam about the army. The public are hugely behind the girls and boys in all the armed forces right now.

Really? what makes you say that?
because he Sun says "support our forces" day blah blah blah?

Sorry col, you are way out on this one. i wa back not long ago and nothing had changed in resopect to appreciatng the establishment.
Like i said to Stan...we obviosly mix in diffrent circles. Unfortunately, mine are grass roots working class and are the majority.
Doesnt mean they are right though <ok>

I'm not talking about the establishment............you said the army.
The ordinary soldiers, airmen and sailors are hugely respected and backed by the British public imo.

The establishment is a different thing altogether.

Dont agree with that at all, but we'll end up going round in circles so prob best not to bother.
Like i said, diffrent circles <ok>
