It certainly looks like Fonte will be staying put at Southampton whilst the new manager Ron Koeman decides who he needs to keep and who he will let go. So I doubt that Steve Bruce will look to bring him here when there are others who will be available sooner.

    Do we?

Who did we have on the bench to do a job in the middle last year? Beyond Meyer?

I'm talking about this coming season. We have Aluko and Brady back, and we've added Snoddgrass.

We've discussed this, he's actually a full back.

I wish people would stop forgetting about Quinny.

I was joking about Powell. We're linked with him every window and we always have a mass debate about his best position.

I think SB should be able to pick a decent midfield from those ? Oh and i'm a big fan of Stephen Quinn.

    Quinn's great.

Hope he stays at City for years to come, but I fear this will be his last season.

Same, too good to be a squad player, but not good enough to be a key player at this level. Best for him to move on.

    Meyler Maybe
    Huddlestone Yes
    Livermore Yes

    Aluko - Winger
Quinn - Bruce doesnt see him as first choice quality
    Snograss - Winger/Forward
    Brady - Winger
Boyd - Bruce doesnt see him as first choice quality
    Elmo - Winger/Wing Back

Basically our only actual central midfielders who are good enough for the prem are Huddlestone, Livermore & possibly Meyler. Thats not a lot of options when we often play 3 central midfielders..

If the chance to sign Rodwell, Powell or someone else came along im sure Bruce would be interested.

We don't need Powell, we need another defensive midfielder if anything.

My point exactly and why my post said someone in the MIDDLE.

Most of the names are wingers or false number nines.

We need a central midfielder who is in the mould of Ash, energy and steel. I was presuming from the comments that Powell was such a player.

Are we calling ince a striker? I thought he would have come into your midfielder debate?

Huddlestone and Livermore and depending on formation,Meyler are the first choice middle men,so the others not being first choice is obvious. We don't need another first choice. He has plenty of options to stand in for injury/rotation.

Oh yeah forgot about Ince <ok>

Quinn made a huge difference coming on in the Semi Final v Sheffield Utd. He's a great player.

He's a very good player, but until he can make that impact on teams in our league, he isn't going to start.

He's not actually had a bad game at this level, he just got injured and never got back in the side.

He doesn't have to start, he's a great squad player though. You must understand, that everyone in our squad can't be a starter.
