Cheers lads. I don't really fancy Educate to win and was more so flagging up my thoughts on him. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't had a bet though and I will be over the moon if he wins!
Fantastic again ROTO, small bet on Educate. As we now have a free bet on 2.05 i have took the Godolphin Golden Town
On a day of great but difficult racing I think the bet of the day is in the next at York. York 2.20 Walia 7-4
I notice that it is starting to dry out at Newmarket (going now Good To Soft) but the July Cup looks like a race to avoid. I backed Hot Streak at Ascot when he got turned over by Sole Power but the latter will not be winning over six and I do not think the former will be on the ground. Slade Power looks an obvious favourite but will he confirm running with Due Diligence? It is hard to fancy the American raider Undrafted as the ground and the racing surface are big question marks and he is not a Group 1 sprinter back home. The Spanish raider Noozhoh Canarias has not been seen since looking like a non-stayer in the Guineas, he has his ground today and I expect that Christophe Soumillon is going to hit the gates and go – could the return to sprinting see him improve his good wins-to-runs record? Away from the soft ground, in the Ascot 4:15 I will be going with the still improving Maid In Rio to collect again for Mark Johnston ahead of Luca Cumani’s Kinshasa. I will write off Wrangler’s chances because of the ground. Over at York in the 4:40, I think Mick Easterby’s Hot Spice is on the upgrade and can make the light weight tell to see off Eagle Rock.
Thought Gregorian ran a fine race in the July Cup. Got anything but a clear run on the stands rail, switched to centre and finished really well for 3rd. (happy with the 16/1). Doubt very much if he would have beaten the winner, a great sprinter.
Well done to Sole Power and his trainer Eddie Lynam. Great to hear him talk about going to Australia and taking on their star in his back yard. Connections are obviously not adverse to putting their horse on a plane on taking on what is out there. No running him at a few select local tracks to build the horse's reputation there.
Well done ROTO and anyone else today with winners. One of the few things you can rely on in this flat season is fast Eddie's sprinters...What a horse Slade Power is becoming and isn't it great to see a small trainer like Eddie take on and beat the game's giants.
Berry,I suspect this scheduled Australian odyssey is the brainchild of Sheikh Mo,who has recently acquired the stud rights to Slade Power, and it is he driving this agenda and not the existing owners...He had a substantial operation there and would love to introduce Slade Power to the Australian bloodstock industry, create a market and shuttle him back and forth. The Sheikh usually gets his way when it comes to where his horses run, regardless of what the trainer thinks as Jim Bolger discovered with the disasterous campaigning of Dawn Approach. Well done ROTO today and anyone else at the payout window.
