"The band has been credited with the invention of punk rock."

No disrespect to the man but people sometimes write history however they want to see it.

It won't happen for a while... They've got plenty of time to make up their minds... You can't rush them as they have families and feelings and the likes.... Don't panic, we'll get Ferdinand (Anton) in the eleventh hour... :emoticon-0116-evilg

Great band but all they are to my generation is a random logo on jumpers worn by people who couldn't name one f their songs.

Them, Iggy, a few garage bands in the 60s......who else 'invented' it then? Read any decent history of punk (Jon Savage's 'England's Dreaming' highly recommended) and you will see how influential they were. I lived through it, The Ramones were a revelation in early 76.

Well all i can say I was working in a slaughter house in early 76 and one Saturday afternoon Fluff played The Ramones and my life changed forever as New Rose followed which still does IT ever time
I still however listen to my Van Der Graaf Generator which still sounds great today ... does Punk?

I liked their version of "Baby, I Love You" but the original is still better

I didn't live through it so perhaps I lose some credit with my opinion but there was some music from around Ladbroke Grove in the late 60s and early 70s that I think is fully formed punk (not prototype punk), including the aesthetics of punk too.

There was a very vibrant music scene in Ladbroke Grove in the early 70s...
