They always use simple emotions in the press. I think he did have suppressed anger, mainly because of the lack of professionalism shown by Dejan. On the Audioboo interview, he mentioned a lack of respect for the team, manager and club. Quite strong words.

Good vibes. He referred to the players as the boys which is important for a dutchman. Once again the one on one Blackmore interview offers more insight than the god awful national press conference.

Very positive response on Morgan especially when compared to his answers on Dejan & Dani which were far more democratic.

Contract extensions for senior players (Fonte, Cork etc) will be looked into in a few weeks if you've not heard the solent interview

Koeman told written media he didn't bother calling Shaw or Lallana because if they didn't want to be at Saints he didn't want to waste time trying to persuade.

Koeman also said Saints will be playing 4-3-3 next season. I know many consider 4-2-3-1 a variation of that, or are we going to use out and out wingers?!

    Need 2 more wingers then.

That could solve the Wanyama/Cork conundrum. Would we play them both with Morgan behind Tadic, J rod and Pelle.

It would be very good defensively but would be without out and out wingers.

I like Ronald, he comes across as a straightforward and honest kind of guy.

Indeed, I think the 4-3-3 is good because it merges more seamlessly with attacking and defensive formations.

So for example in possession on the attack 4-3-3 can become a 3-4-3. Big Vic in the middle drops back, the centre backs split and then the full backs add the width.

The curious question for me is what Koeman will prefer with the three up top.

Naturally a striker centrally and in Tadic we would have more of a winger on one side, but will he prefer another winger or a 2nd striker drifting in, a la Jay Rod

Good interview with Solent as well, and good of Adam to ask him about the contracts.

The Lovren thing is just posturing for more money. If that means Lovren is priced out of a move, I can't imagine anyone at the club would be too upset.

I would like to see Lovren gone. I think we can get someone just as good and at half the price. Morgan though, different situation. I think it is important that he stays.

I always saw our formation, towards the end of last season particularly, as a 4-3-3 anyway with J-Rod, Lambert and Lallana ahead of, generally, Davis, Schneiderlin and Cork.

Ronald Koeman should be in politics, and I mean that in a nice way. At the press conference yesterday, he managed to reclassify Southampton as a non-selling club; distance himself from the decision to sell Lambert, Twatbeard, and Shaw; put a rocket up Lovren's arse while still expressing a desire to keep him; assured us that Morgan will stay; held out an olive branch to Osvaldo; and talked about new conracts for Fonte and Cork. And call me naive, but I found myself believing every word he said. Certainly the press took it all on board: there seems to have been a subtle shift in the way Saints news is being printed this morning.

If he can deal with the players the way he dealt with the press, and get them all playing the way he wants to, I can see us having a great season, certainly a lot more successful than it looked like we might have a few weeks ago.

    On the radio yesterday they focused on three things;
"Saints are not a selling club."
"Koeman is not happy with the way Lovren has behaved."
"There are no plans for anyone else to leave".

That coverage suggests that Koeman knows how to talk to the press and got his message over very well.

maybe. pisses over the idea that he's a straight talker though, as i've seen a number of people label him after this presser.

out of interest, Lovren's interview with the croatian press stated that the price went up to 25 million and that he was not for sale... any chance reed put the price up to 25m and then when koeman came in we just put a not for sale sign up?

Think he meant that Shaw, Lambert and Lallana transfers were all but sorted when he arrived, so no reason for him to talk to them, but no one else was supposed to leave, so he spoke to Morgan and Lovren as they were Sous-hampton players and he was their manager.

Agree with all of this. Looking forward to next season in a calm and optimistic frame of mind after one press conference:)
