That's kind of the point, it allows the two CB's to push wide and the FBs to get forward and provide the width.
I played footy tonight. I did alright defensively but was quite poor when attacking. I also picked up a slight knock on my all important right knee. However, I hear Brod is about to submit a £17m for for me despite me not belonging to a club atm #randomoverpricedsignings
£35m isn't that shocking anymore! At the time £35m was superstar money... now it's about the going rate for the 2nd-tier of player. World Class top players usually going for £40m+. Torres's £50m transfer is probably equivalent to Suarez's £75m transfer despite only being 4 or so years ago. £35m is probably more equivalent to the £20m transfer that WE paid for Torres.
God forbid it, but all the discussions on how we play have Sturridge as the striker, if he was to get injured and say out for 8 weeks who would play. As i see it, if we had Bony then he could do that, we do not have anyone better, so he would definitely improve the squad, otherwise would leave Lambert to play and Borini/Aspas on the bench to bring on to change things. Spending more would probably mean Sturridge on the bench??? We were better defensively at the start of last season when Suarez was not available, so maybe we will be more like that. I think our defence is fine, but any defender in the world will struggle if left isolated, we did that with Suarez,Sturridge,Ford,Sterling etc in the line up
You couldn't get their left legs for £35mill. Messi: We cost anyone well over £100mill to purchase. Ronaldo: £80mill or there abouts wasn't it? Suarez: 75mill Neymar: 90mill Bale: 85mill If first tier is £75m+ then yes... based on those figures, I think it's safe to say that £40m+ would be the going rate for a 2nd-tier type player. Martinez's £35m price would put him between 2nd and 3rd tier pricing. 3rd tier being £20m-£30m for a good solid player that most teams in the world would like in their squad. (4 years ago £20m-£30m was the price of a 2nd tier player)
My point was, beyond those players there are some bloody good options such as Zlatan, Sanchez, Lavezzi, Shaqiri, etc
No complaints there so long as we tried. I have no issue if we don't sign a top name either, what I don't like is over spending on players that we could have signed whether we had CL football or not.
I completely agree! I don't want the Suarez money wasted... Spurs last year has been a big red flag... and so far I'm not convinced we aren't awaiting a similar fate.
Selling their best player then finishing 3 points and 1 place lower the next season? TBF I'd take that if offered now.
I mean when we're defending. Gerrard ends up in cb position if we're facing any kind of patient attacking from our opposition.
