I think the best thing was the complete lack of cliché. A straight bat to questions which he could answer, a polite refusal to discuss that which he couldn't or wouldn't. It's a great start, for me.

Well I think I can speak for several who have regularly played in competitive team situations over the years that are some pretty odd smells that emanate from a dressing room. Others smelly feet, that is so bad that it catches in the throat, is the the first one I can conjure from memory. There is that seemingly ever-present liniment smell as well. However, I suspect he meant things like good team spirit and morale, ambition, confidence, etc... Or the lack of those things.
He denied going on twitter a lot..saying never anything private, just about his job which pleases the fans. Fans will enjoy that, but let's hope morons don't give him grief if we hit a bad patch.

To be honest, plenty of players have been bigger twats than Dejan (well, at least equal twats) and then stayed on at clubs and done very well. It'll be hard, but I think it's possible to get over this hiccup if he stays, then puts out some PR fluff about being misquoted and sorry for being a twat. With regard to will people give Ronald Hakkinen grief on Twitter/Social Media should we hit a bad patch - sadly of course they will. You need only spend 2 minutes reading the comments on the Southampton Facebook page to realise that not all our supporters are as wonderful and lacking in intellectual concern as the stout members of this board........
