Isn't that more of a problem with the diamond? As it's so narrow there's no one effectively picking up the fullbacks allowing constant overlaps. Remember numerous times with the 4-3-3 earlier in the season where the opposition's midfield would get in behind Gerrard and be able to run at the back four.
Earlier in the season Lucas and Gerrard were holding side by side. It was awful and we improved once Lucas was dropped.
Maybe. I just see a 4-3-3 with Gerrard as defensive mid as a bit susceptible. His positioning isn't great and he doesn't have the legs to make up for it anymore. I could see the diamond and 4-3-3 as being interchangeable. So with the ball and attacking its: --------------Mignolet------------ Flanagan--Lovren--Sakho--Moreno --------------Gerrard------------- ------Henderson---Coutinho------ --Lallana----------------Sterling-- -------------Sturridge------------ Then when we lose the ball and have time to reshape or need to tighten up: --------------Mignolet------------ Flanagan--Lovren--Sakho--Moreno --------------Gerrard------------- ------Henderson---Coutinho------ --------------Lallana------------- --------------------Sterling------ ----------Sturridge------------

I have thought this to. What we actually do defensively is this: Johnson--Skrtel--Gerrard--Sakho--Flanagan
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rc0IDATSIww Maybe his best game for Swansea? He's a big strong guy, and I didn't give him enough credit for his link up play. He has good control, is an aerial threat and a good finisher. He looks pretty heavy legged at times though, and doesn't seem to make many runs in behind, preferring to receive the ball with his back to goal before trying to create a bit of space for a shot or lay it off for a teammate. Again think he would be good for the squad but not the first team. If his signing is at the expensive (meant to put expense- Freudian slip?) of a fast attacking flair player (not including Marko) then I'm not in favour.
£19m, compared to £25m for Lallana, for example seems more bound for the pound. A much more reasonable purchase price (especially considering striker premiums)
As long as we still get Firmino I don't care. What do you mean we're not even in for Firmino??! He plays for Hoffenheim ffs! Great talent + smaller club = perfect signing.
it not burning any holes in any pockets especially a sit come sin installments. We'll have to get value. it's a rare occurance to get such a fee so it must we wisley worked and that means no crazy gut feelings or someone running off on ego trip. If we buy bony I'll have my axe out i can tell you.. whatever baout over paying for lallana which i don't agree with at least i could see a sue for him. why buy lallana then get a guy whos basically another of the same ilk who will not help our play one iota... whats the point...
