Ok so he's gone and is now history, I'm more interested in who we now buy. This should give us the money for Lovren and a player to replace Suarez. I really don't know who we could get though Sanchez was the obvious replacement outside of him I don't think there's anyone who stands out, I get the feeling it'll be an unheard of younger player.

OK who are the top strikers in the world at the moment and who could replace him?

Ronaldo
Messi
Neymar
Ibrahimovic
Sergio Aguero
Carlos Vela
Marco Reus
Antoine Griseman
Benzema
Sanchez
Diego Costa

There are the two Mancs but I don't rate them at all.

Some on that list would probably cost more than £75m (messi, Ronaldo, neymar) but the others should be within that figure? If we put a good package for the player and a good bid for the club, who knows???

BBC say £75m too. Sky are quoting Balaque who is quoting Barcelona. It's us versus them. Believe whatever makes you happiest.

64.3 seems a very specific release clause and I doubt we would have the release clause in euros, no way we would be that stupid to accept foreign exchange risk. so I think it's a load of guff. Every other media outlet stating £75m

Reus is an option as is Greisman but I'm really not sure they have that something special.

Ronaldo-N/A
Messi-N/A
Neymar-N/A
Ibrahimovic-N/A
Sergio Aguero-N/A
Carlos Vela-Just signed new contract so unlikely
Marco Reus-Very hard to tempt, at currently higher profile club
Antoine Griseman-Possible but not really a striker
Benzema-Very hard to tempt, unless Real show him the door can't see him wanting to come.
Sanchez-New signing
Diego Costa-New signing

There are the two Mancs but I don't rate them at all.

Edited with thoughts...

Reus is quality...
Not seen Greece(lighting)man play much...
But Reus will most likely be off to Bayern, Barca or RM in the next year, he'll most likely stay at Dortmund this year.

A new contract does not mean a thing. Some clubs just do it to secure a good transfer fee. Look at Suarez. He had a lucrative new contract signed only a year ago but he still left !

I'm going to hop on board the Balotelli band wagon, we need a crazy bastard in the side now Suarez is gone!!!

I know, but it would harder to sign, I mean Vela would be a good signing, but how much are you willing to pay, £30-40 million?

Re fee.

This is the club that reported less than 50% of the neymar price so I personally won't believe a SINGLE word

When we know that

A) the wide agreement was Barcelona agreed to meet release clause

B) day one the release (December) was said to be 70 mil sterling

I have heard today wild talk of world record fee 90+ mil, 88 mil and all sorts

I am quite confident it's 70 mil at least so after that it's impossible to say

Even Sky are changing their tune now and saying it's £75m. Does anyone believe a word Gay Bumboy says anymore? He 'sold' Torres back to Spain every year since he got to Liverpool - and he eventually went to Chelsea. Barca/Madrid mouthpiece.

"Hello everyone. It is over three and a half years since I arrived at Liverpool, a club that I have always admired," he wrote in an open letter.

"From the moment I signed, my aim and my desire, my constant goal, was to help Liverpool grow and to be even greater than it already is."

"Over the last few years I have experienced lots of good moments and other, more difficult ones," he added. "Both in good times and bad I always felt supported by wonderful fans at a wonderful club.

"We will always feel close to the city: we feel proud of the fact that our daughter, who is almost four years old now, was raised in Liverpool and that our son was born there.

"My family and I were always made to feel at home and we will never forget that. At difficult times, I had your backing and that is something that I will always carry in my heart."

"To have had the opportunity to play, enjoy, smile and score goals at a stadium as unique and special as Anfield, with all of you incredible fans supporting us, is an honour.

"I would also like to express my gratitude to all my teammates, the staff at Melwood and the two managers who showed such faith in me at all times.

"Today a stage of our lives comes to an end that we will never forget. Our affection towards Liverpool will be forever. We leave behind lots of friends and special people who will always be in our hearts. THANK YOU.

"We depart as Liverpool fans. You'll Never Walk Alone".

Are we having a sweepstake on who wrote that?
