Must admit there a few in here that I did not realise were banned by the Beeb. I'm pretty sure "Too Drunk To ****" by The Dead Kennedy's was banned as well, no mention here though funnily enough.

Wasn't Relax by FGTW banned or was that just that ****in ****ing ponce Cliff Richard wannabe prick Mike Read? Hated the song but he was instrumental in getting the song to number 1. ****.

****, I'd been doing so well recently.

No but they did alter the lyrics to Peaches so it was radio friendly.

They did ban the video for Duchess though with the meninblack dressed as choirboys.

Give Ireland Back to the Irish by Wings was banned by the BBC in the early 70s for some reason.

Then the rest of the thread is a slinging match between the usual suspects calling each other obsessed.

Shows how some things change and others don't. They wouldn't ban Glad to be Gay in a million years now - and neither should they of course. I am surprised though that the Eliza doolittle song was banned.

I remeber the banning of Atomic and all the rest of it after the outbreak of the Gulf War - the Cure were playing Wembley live for radio 1 and half the crowd started shouting for them to play Killing an Arab - they didn't.

I'm pretty sure "Orgasm Addict" by The Buzzcocks was banned.

I can remember in music at Secondary School we were allowed to bring in our favourite vinyl. Some **** brought in the Spiral Scratch EP (remember them folks) and we all started coughing at the appropriate times in the song.

I would have thought that most of the output of the Buzzcocks and the Clash was banned at one point or another. Mind some commentators now say that punk was never especially big - it was just that the journalists now would have been in their teens or twenties then and like to perpetuate that myth. Not sure how true that is to be honest - i suspect as always it's somewhere in between.
