The fact remains that was our best defence. To sugggest it was all down to Colo is comical at best. Saylor, Raylor and Simpson made huge contributions. The number of goal lines stops and commitment to the cause far exceeds anything we have had since. As I say Debuchy is clearly a far better player as he offers so much more going forward. Defensively though, Simpson was excellent. Kept it simple going forward but he allowed Ben Arfa to get away with murder through his defensive skills. Not a coincidence when we went to the more progressive Debuchy, we get caught time and again whenever HBA is on the pitch.

I agree with that. Got to look at overall team. If a more "boring" right back brings the best out of fatty then perhaps stick with a boring defender. If boring and fatty are better than Debuchy and Sissoko then I won't complain

Jenkinson would be a step down. I'd prefer Janmaat going on what I have heard of him. Campbell would be good if it was permanent (as long as he was not our only striker addition) but from what I have read he would be coming on loan.

Pretty much my opinion. Though I'm all for English talent and Jenkinson is good, I think if Janmaat was an option I'd be going that route. Campbell however would be good on loan or permanent.

All done and set to be announced according to GFNFrance:

A total agreement for the transfer of Mathieu Debuchy has now been reached between all three parties involved.

Arsenal have agreed a £10m fee for the player plus bonuses thought to be in the region of £2.5m. The player had already agreed a 4 year contract with the club earlier this week and will now seek to go on holiday.

The signing and announcement of the transfer is imminent.

Get French Football News already confirmed that the player has undergone medical tests earlier this week.

#NUFC push for full Debuchy value, roughly 12m. Also MA won't sanction deal until quality replacement is secured. Lessons learned perhaps.

wow we could actually be doing something right?!

If that's what's happening, I'll take my hat off to the club for that.

Good to see that lessons appear to have been learnt.

Still frustrating that every signing we make is a replacement for someone though instead of signing players to add to the squad.

Couple of bits:,Debuchy deal as good as done but club want Janmaat in first. Getting positive vibes on Cabella too... #nufc

It does sound like NUFC may be learning their lesson. We'll see.

I wonder how our team of foreign B internationals will fair next season.

    Krul

Janmaat (hopefully and he's virtually first choice)
    Santon
    Colo
    Mbiwa

    Tiote (another A teamer)
    Anita

    Grenier
    Cabella
    De Jong

    Remy

Ok so two or three aren't actually our players but lets not get lost in the detail <whistle>

If that was our starting line up and we had no major injuries throughout the season we should be challening for top 6 - if we don't then AP would have to go!

Not quite as cut and dried as that. MYM and Santon are glamorous names yet to really do anything good in the PL. The three AM's are all strangers to the division, they could all fail as easily as they could all work. Janmaat is the only one with no real question marks - he did well against every type of opposition in Brazil. So much though I hate Pardew, there's a lot of ifs and buts before it becomes his fault.

Bearing in mind how **** a manager he is before this season he needs to deliver! Yes some will not do as well as others but this team should be challenging fr top 6 (doesn't mean to say they will though)
